Ironically enough, after making the above post last night, I got into my Denali to drive home from work at 7am to find my brake pedal went all the way to the floor. Being an idiot I decided to attempt to the truck to my repair shop 40 miles away. Luckily it was mostly highway and the early...
Just as an update. I purchased the gently used jasper TC from a guy on CL for $200. Has it installed for another $300 and she's as good as new!!! Nice and quiet and the 4wd works as it should!! Thanks for the help folks!!
This happened to my 99 Denali last year. My lines had a pin hole in them in the area near the front drivers side tire inside the engine compartment. It was the lines coming from the ABS module going down towards the wheels. They also are prone to failing at the rear close to the rear drums.
To...
Happy New Year All!!
I have needed a new TC in my 99Denali with 236k on the clock for awhile now. I finally scored a newer Jasper np246 from a guy on CL for $200!! While I have it at the shop getting fixed are there any other repairs that I could/should have done where I might be able to save a...
Search YouTube for head gasket and intake gasket replacement on a chevy 5.7 v8. I recall seeing a pretty detailed video of a guy doing a white Tahoe/suburban
I've had my 99 Denali since 2003 and it's a monster!! I have 236k miles on the clock and counting. I've gone through several blizzards in the thing and nothing stops it!!! Enjoy!!!
Probably switches for some sort of light package the truck had on it when it was an emergency vehicle. As for the DRL switch, many police vehicles have that switch to allow for officers to turn the DRL's off for various law enforcement reasons whereas the general public may not have that option.
I just did this on my 99 Denali. I needed the gear reduction unit as I bought the other one and it was a little too big and did not fit.
The job is very simple with only two bolts holding it in place. The two wires for the electrical connections were a pain as they were badly corroded. I had...
They aren't terrible but if I were doing it over I would opt for a double din setup. Unfortunately, when I purchased my head unit the double dins were very rare (2003)
Spark plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor and maybe a new serpentine belt depending on when you last changed it. Also, go with AC Delco parts whenever possible
My transfer case made a terrible noise when engaged as well. My 4wd still worked but I knew it was only a matter of time before it blew up. If your TC is leaking fluid I would address that immediately and do not use your 4wd until you fix the problem. In the event you need a new TC check out...
I have an alpine flip out that I've had for years. Works just fine but I will admit that it's kinda outdated these days. No problems sliding out but with the bouncing around our trucks do it can be a bit of a pain. If you're just looking for navigation I would just get a phone mount or buy a...
Yep!! Sounds like you need new rears. My 99 Denali did the same as yours. My rig felt very unstable at highway speeds. New shocks all the way around took care of the problem.
What are the exact symptoms you are experiencing? When you turn the key do you get a click? No sound? Does it try to turn over but just doesn't? Dash lights on? My starter recently went out on my 99 Denali. It's a darker simple repair. The part is $100 on Rockauto and there are plenty of videos...
So I contacted the good folks at transfercase.com as Sunlit recommended. It's $795 for a reman NP246 with upgraded internals and the newer heavy duty rear housing to address the pump rub issue. There's a $100 round trip shipping fee on top of that and that's pretty much it. They charger you a...
What vehicle do you have? If it's a 99 Denali like the op in the thread then it's fairly simple. It's a simple righty tighty, lefty loosie bolt. It can be difficult so try applying a bit of pressure on the headlights in an upward motion to take some of the pressure off the bolt. Also, trying...
I have had the k&n on my 99 Denali since 2003 or so. I have yet to have a problem with it and it does sound pretty damn awesome when I mash the throttle!! Install was easy too
Swapped out the advanced auto unit for the ACDELCO. Still didn't start so I traced the ignition wire and found a short. Fixed and now everything is good to go!
