    1999 4x4 2 Door Tahoe

I used JB conversions for mine. It was more $$ than that. I did the shorty version of the flange output on the rear of my NP241 (the manual lever on the floor) since i have a 2 door and it's such a short driveline anyway. I changed out from a NP243 (the push button one) and so I knew...

    1999 4x4 2 Door Tahoe

I had a CV shaft with a slip yoke for about 6 months. The problems are 2 with the Slip yoke on a 4x4 rig. First off the CV shaft will cause premature wear of the bronze bushing inside the tailhousing of your transfer case. I'm not sure how to quantify "premature" but it is there. The CV part...

What did you do to your OBS GMT400 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

She's got no front brakes, no front driveshaft, and no front differential oil. But she's standing on her own. Got the longer brake lines made today, the black RTV is drying on the diff cover and the measurements are in for the front CV shaft. If I can get the exhaust rebent around the front...

    Wide steel wheels

They have a huge instagram photo collection. Problem is they have one old K5 blazer and the rest are slabsided lincoln continentals from the 60s, old hot rods, and then dropped old trucks. All cool vehicles but nothing to show you what it would look like on your vehicle. One other option...

    '97 2-door Tahoe - 6" suspension 3" body with 37s looking to take it down a notch

ditching the body lift is undoing around 6 bolts I think. 1000 dollars for that seems RETARDED. He's totally bending you over for that amount of money. that's assuming the lift is just pucks on the 6 or 8 body mount points. Stupid simple to do. I'm running 37" MT tires on a 4"...

    front driveshaft angle

clocking the transfer case is a lot of work...for what benefit? Are you having driveline vibrations you've isolated to the front? Are you chewing through driveshaft u joints? You have to measure your angles on the xfer case and the pinion of the front dana 44/60/10 bolt whatever is in...

1997 gmc yukon shackle flip kit problem

ORD is the one I used. They're beefy and have a good reputation among the hard core off road crowd.

    Rear ABS system

So I've researched this all over the place. What's with the rear ABS system on the gmt400 [90s] tahoes? I see no sensors or tone wheels for sensors on the rear diffs like the front hub bearings house. Does the ABS operate based on the front wheel sensors alone and if activated unlock all...

    Random jerk in motor

I found mine the old fashioned way with a test light . PITA but it works. Again, If you're not throwing codes and all fuses are good, it's likely not the issue.

    Random jerk in motor

So I swapped out the 4L60E for an NV4500. I paid little attention to the wires up under all the crap in the tranny tunnel. Went from button shift to manual shift transfer case..drilled holes in the metal on the floor hump...those wires up under there rode next to the screws and shorted out...

    Straight axle my front end

I'm eyeballs deep in a SAS now on my 2 door tahoe. I'm 5000 in the hole and still need two new driveshafts. At 500 a piece I'll be 6000 in the hole in no time. Totally not worth the effort for anything 35" and down. No dana 44 will be made worthy of a full size for less than 1000 no...

    What the frick?

So here's the deal. 1997 2 door tahoe. NV4500 swap in place of the 4L60e. CEL codes on 1. P0753 shift solenoid A 2. P1864 torque converter clutch 3. P1886 shift timing solenoid ...obviously the truck's computer still thinks the auto tranny is malfunctioning or something.... For all of...

Got the spring bushings and rear shackle greasable bushings put in. What a PITA to get the old ones beat out, melted out, etc. springs are back in and now I'm running the new brake lines to the center pumpkin splitter thingiemawhatsit. Going to try to not kill myself bleeding this system...

what are your best deals you got ?

Went to the steel junkyard and got about 8 square feet of 3/16" steel to make my new bumpers for free. Paid for some 2x6 channel and the guy just gave it away.

    Off-road upgrades

Agree with Scott above. The IFS is not good enough, no matter what you put up there. Custom a-arms, 1 ton ball joints, etc. It's expensive at first and a fair amount of technical detail is involved in the solid axle swap, but it's doable. It's becoming very common for people who don't...

    Off-road upgrades

A "brush guard" is wasted money and weight. If you wheel it in the mud or rocks much, you're going to start breaking front end components. IFS is not meant for offroad. I know I know the H1 hummers have IFS, other trucks this and that all have IFS. If you're getting serious about offroad...

What did you do to your OBS GMT400 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Got the new axle on the ground. Next morning a 2" spot of diff oil is gathering. Guess bearing is bad. Seal is new. I'll grab some bearings and do both sides while I have the tools on rent. Merry Christmas y'all
