    Took The Plunge

We have an 01 Tahoe LS with over 300k miles on it. Daily driver. Do the maintenance by the book and it will last a long time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    what oil

I am still planning on switching to that Valvoline full synthetic high mileage at the next oil change. I switched to Synpower (from Maxlife) in my other car And am getting about 1-2 mpg better, just from that. If you're already running full synthetic I dont think it would improve, but I have...

Got an OBD code of P0404 EGR

I finally got around to scanning the code of the service engine light today. It is P0404 EGR control circuit range / performance. Google search indicates that it might help to remove and clean the EGR valve. Anyone want to comment on doing that? I've never done it before.

    Torsion bar slipping?

Have you taken it to a good suspension place and asked them for a diagnosis? Might be worth it, so you know what parts they think need to be addressed. Or if you have access to the Factory SM, it has the diagnostic to follow. For me...I am not a "suspension guy", so I take it to a local place...

    what oil

Yes, everybody recommends the Seafoam or ATF flush for an engine that has not been well maintained (oil wise). Will probably do that at the next change. I was planning on going to Valvoline Full Synthetic High Mileage, but may try the racing oil you suggested. Right now, not hearing any...

    what oil

thanks for sharing those links. Quick question, if you got a motor that has been poorly maintained, would you still recommend the Valvoline racing oil over the Valvoline MaxSyn Full Synthetic? I've heard the Valvoline Racing is definitely the best for vintage/classic engines, especially if you...

    AC blowing hot air!

There should be stickies on all of the AC issues. (Just MHO) Need the service diagrams too, which would be helpful. There are excellent bits and pieces of info on this forum, it just needs to be organized a little better, especially the diagnostic part. On the repair side...hehehe...I...

    Tune up/fluid change Recomendations

I do a PCV valve every three years or so, just as a matter of course. Depending on how many miles it has, might want to do a fuel filter too. Cheap and never hurts to do it. Of course, the nomal "belts and hoses" should all be checked and replaced as needed. If you don't have maintenance...

    Question about antifreeze

On the pressure test, where is the best place to get the test equipment? (not trying to jack the thread, but it might be helpful for the OP to know) EDIT: WAIT Nevermind...I missed this post earlier. :emotions122...

    New to the suv scene

:insane: :) Welcome! We drive an '01 Tahoe with a bone stock 5.3l, 3.2? Posi rear end, and the smooth ride suspension. At 330k miles, its still a blast.

    AC not working...again.

Worth getting a new belt and putting it on to see what happens. We will hope for the best!

    AC not working...again.

If the compressor is starting to go, you can also get high pressure on the low side and low pressure on the high side. At that many miles, if it's the original compressor, would not surprise me. Here is a really good link to an Autozone Diagnose Common A/C Problems web page...

    what oil

Have been using Valvoline high mileage blend 10w30, but plan on switching to Valvoline high mileage full synthetic next oil change. Always use the AC Delco filter. Its cheap, but seems ok. My experience is more frequent oil changes tend to do more good than harm, so I tend to buy cheap BRAND...

Which code reader to read/clear DTC, ABS and Airbags?

In case anyone is interested, I got a reply back, saying the Innova 3160 should do the job. However, I was in a rush and wanted the ABS code, so I went to Harbor Freight and bought the Cen-Tel model for about $100, that also does ABS (no SRS). For now, I am using it and is OK for the price...

    2002 Tahoe ABS codes

The C0265 indicates the ABS controller is likely defective or you may have a bad ground connection, or both. The link posted above takes you to a thread where that code and a fix is discussed. Assuming the controller module is bad (very likely) the other codes listed are probably spurious and...

    Question about antifreeze

Hope the OP finds the problem. I am tracking down something similar in our '01 Tahoe. It is important to find and fix the leak. Main thing I was worried about was the "leaking cylinder head" issue, but found out we don't have the "bad heads" so that worry is less. Since it's 100+ degrees...

ABS Module removal 2001 Yukon XL?

Taking that module off sounds like a pain. We need to get the one off our '01 Tahoe, so I can fix it or send it off for repair. Can I pay you to come and do that for me?

    A/C and heater problems

Are you buying OEM resistors or some cheap brand (like from Autozone)? I've had Dorman resistors blow (in other cars) several times (in other cars) and finally went an bought OEM from the dealer. Fixed the problem. Usually that resistor blowing over and over is an indication of the blower...

    Torsion bar slipping?

No expert here, but I have never heard of torsion bars wearing out. Everything else in the front end, yes. Torsion bars, no. Just one data point, FWIW.

    BATTERY/SECURITY/LOW FUEL etc...

I would not be happy with whoever did that detail job. And I would probably pay the $100, if I had to, so the airbags work again.

ABS/ Parking Brake Light/ TC Light

Thank you for confirming that the Innova 3160 is working for you. I may upgrade to that one. I bought a Harbor Freight scanner for about $100 and it does DTC and ABS codes for my 2001 Tahoe, but it doesnt do SRS. I have intermittent SRS light on the dash and would like to know whatnthat code is.

New guy with an '01 Tahoe and a boatload of trouble

Good advice....Will take it to the car wash and carefully clean the gunk off. I know you have to be careful when doing that and not blast the electrical wiring or the air intake. :) I meant to get the new plugs done today, but other things came along, so that got put off. Will get that...

ABS Module went haywire - newbie - need to replace it

Well, I went to HF and bought the scan tool that is supposed to do ABS. Had to do a lot of messing around, but FINALLY got it to give me an ABS code. Here it is: C0265 - Solenoid Valve Relay Circuit Is that any help? Thanks!
