    Transmission Rebuild

Got my truck back. They ended up knocking almost $1k off what I was originally quoted because it wasn't as bad as they thought before they opened it up. Maybe I just got lucky with my local AAMCO, but I'm happy with what I got, especially since I'm probably trading it in on a new truck anyway...

    Transmission Rebuild

I saw that the codes were saying solenoids, but the transmission shop said it was also binding up. The truck wouldn't move in any gear or reverse, but it seemed like it wanted to. It was doing exactly the same thing in neutral.

    Transmission Rebuild

I don't know. Maybe I mixed up the labor for replacement versus rebuild. Their price seems in line with most of what I've seen, though, and they have a better reputation than the other transmission shops here.

    Transmission Rebuild

It's our local AAMCO. 2 year warranty includes parts and labor. I don't mind paying a bit more. I already had it towed to the shop and that was free, unless I don't have it repaired there. At this point, saving a few hundred in labor isn't worth it. As long as $3250 isn't a complete rip off, I'm...

Reman transmission was going to be over $4k. The rebuild includes a 2 year warranty.

    Transmission Rebuild

My 2008 Yukon Denali went into limp mode last night and threw codes p0700, p0751, and p0777. I pulled to the side of the road, put it in park and shut it off. When I started it back up, while in gear, it wouldn't move. It felt like it was trying to, but barely. It behaved the same way in...

    Electrical Problems

New alternator completely resolved these issues. Until tonight. I drove my truck up the road to grab some things at the store. On the way home, I got the Stabilitrak error and my navigation unit lost power. Pulled into the driveway and shut it off. It was completely dead again. After it sat...

    Electrical Problems

I was able to get the new alternator installed and everything looks good so far. I'll keep driving it and monitoring it until I can upgrade the wiring .

    Electrical Problems

I just went ahead and ordered an alternator. I'll be able to get it swapped out and upgrade the wiring next week.

    Electrical Problems

I'm getting 0.6 ohms testing the ground from the battery to the engine block. I didn't unplug the battery. I thought that was a bad thing on newer vehicles? Is that OK to do on ours?

    Electrical Problems

I took a few measurements of the alternator and battery: Battery (not running): 11.90V Battery (running): 11.57V Alternator: 11.83V I didn't check any of the ground because I'm not supposed to "work on" my car in the parking lot here. Anything specifically I should check?

    Electrical Problems

Ok, dropped the red top from my truck in it and it fired right up. Drove it home with everything off including lights. Battery light on and same message to service the charging system. Looks like a new alternator and cable upgrade when I can get it into a garage. I'll test everything out this...

    Electrical Problems

OK, I appreciate it. I'll check everything out. It might get pushed to after we close on our house and I get setup in my garage.

    Electrical Problems

Thanks Brian. I'm stopping by a friend's house tonight to borrow his multimeter, so I'll be able to test all of that out. It's not fun dealing with this while my tools are in the mover's warehouse. I'll probably end up parking it until I get my tools unpacked. Question about your hub. Did you...

    Electrical Problems

Awesome, thanks for the reply. The battery was working with zero issues other than the gremlins earlier, but I've never had to jump it or charge it. I'm going to grab the battery out of my other truck tonight and see what it does. I'll check all of your suggestions. Thanks again.

    Electrical Problems

OK, so the Denali has been fine for the last week, so I decided to drive it to work. It drove fine, no issues until I was about 2 miles from home on the highway. I got a "Service Charging System Warning" so I tried to make it to the next exit. Before I made it, the electrical completely died and...

    Electrical Problems

Does anyone know the following: How long is the ground cable? What size are the connectors? What size wrench is needed to remove the cable? I'm going to try changing it without someone giving me a hassle, but don't have any of my tools yet.

    Electrical Problems

I haven't, but I'm almost positive it's the negative battery cable. I'm in temp corporate housing right now, so I just parked it and I'm driving my car for now. I'll let you know when I get a chance to look. I'm planning on just putting in a 4 AWG wire with new connectors.

    Electrical Problems

So after checking into this a little further, I think it's most likely the same issue others had with the negative battery cable. Does anyone know a part number on that or where to get a better aftermarket option? My tools are all being shipped across the country right now, so I'm limited on...

    Electrical Problems

I have been dealing with a few electrical issues since I bought my 2008 Denali. It's all intermittent, which makes me think I have a bad ground I can't find. Here are a few things going on: Intermittent message for StabiliTrak and traction control being off TPMS gives me an error to check tire...

Self tune, Shop tune or ????

I did my own with HPTuners. Around the same price, and now I have the software and can do it on my other vehicles. Great learning experience.

the real story on spark plug wires

My 08 Denali has been stumbling a bit on acceleration when I first start it up. I initially thought it might be the transmission, but it has 82k miles and the original plugs and wires so I'm going to swap them out. Any thoughts on the ACDelco stuff so far?
