The brakes are toast on the Yukon. I've been trying to squeeze every last drop out of them because I planned to do a comprehensive upgrade including NNBS fronts. Well we drove 6 hours in the Ozarks yesterday and finally finished off the rears and got in to the rotors!
Ordered rear EBC slotted...
I had to do knock sensors last week, ugh. Went ahead and replaced the valley cover and intake gaskets.
This week we disabled the ride control on one of my advisor's wife's 05 Denali and replaced all shocks with Bilsteins. Balanced and aligned the 2014 Sierra 20's, did the diode 6HI mod and...
I did this mod but I just bolted it to the bottom hole on the original bracket. I obviously had to remove the stud from the bumper. Not ideal but they don't shake and anyone could do this without cutting or welding. Truly a bolt on mod.
Similar story, 04 with 108k and new trans. Driven by a college kid who didn't care. Detailed it, wheels, suspension, dent removal and touch up. Now we're in business.
From the owners manual:
I can not stress this enough, driving in AUTO is not AWD, it still engages the front differential, it is still 4wd. DO NOT DRIVE IN AUTO on dry pavement!
Just my recommendation from personal experience.
I've been wanting to do the same mod except I've been too cheap to order the PIAAs so I got the LED flood lights for $25 shipped on eBay. We used them on two different coworkers vehicles and they like them. I have yet to install them.
I'll be sure to use yellow laminx on the fogs and a dark...
THIS^
Every single 2014+ makes this noise when auto 4wd is selected.
DO NOT DRIVE IN AUTO 4WD unless conditions demand, it is not the same as AWD and it WILL ruin your front differential during normal paved driving. I have replaced front differentials as early as 17,000 miles due to the...
A good way to check for intake gasket failure which is pretty common on the older trucks is to spray carb cleaner around the base of the intake while the engine is running (cold is best.) If the rpm increases as you are spraying then you know you have a leak.
When I got the vette servo I had to turn the shift firmness back to stock with my edge programmer. It was too harsh for daily driving the family around. It would've been fine in my truck but not in the family wagon.
When we put the vette servo in we lost one of the snap rings and didn't know it. It would not shift in to 4th.
We stopped by a trans shop who had one on a bench and realized we were missing the snap ring around the piston.
I wonder if yours popped off?
At what point does the owner of the vehicle OWN his vehicle? It's your truck now, fix it. There is a warranty in place for a reasonable amount of time, anything the manufacturer does to help beyond that point is gracious. They didn't have to offer handle replacement at all. They certainly are...
I already had mine, reached my income goal (which of course is no longer enough) and bought an 80's 911. How cliche is that?
Looking for more in life now.
If I had to do it again, even as much as I love the way the 22's look, I'd probably go with 20's.
Maybe I'm just getting old (not even 30 yet) but the 22's make it suffer in every category except aesthetics.
