Wife hates my new 2006 Yukon XL Denali

I agree that the steering (and ride/handling) got better with each generation. Been a while since I've driven the GMT800 but do recall it all improved notably in the GMT900 and again in K2. All of this will improve the sense of stability on the highway. I also distinctly recall the accuracy of...

    Headers on a 6.2L with Stock Muffler/Cat-Back?

If don't like the sound of the stock exhaust after headers you can always try to add a resonator to tone it down. Cheaper than a whole new system. My brother purchased a CTS-V with cam, headers (no cats), and Corsa Sport. Needless to say it was loud and a times a touch raspy. He added MBRP...

    Headers on a 6.2L with Stock Muffler/Cat-Back?

What year is your Yukon? GM changed the stock exhaust when they added AFM (believe 2010+) and it got a lot quieter. The 2007-09? 6.2 SUV had a fairly deep, throaty stock exhaust (still fairly mild, but not silent). The later ones had exhaust that was near silet (likely to combat the annoying...

    GMC Performance Exhaust Experience

As I recall, it was whisper quiet at cruise and woke up and made some noise when your foot went down. It's been a while since I've been in that car on the highway but I recall it being similar to my Corsa in that regard - and that is exactly how my Corsa behaved.

    GMC Performance Exhaust Experience

This is a popular option - you would have to search and see which model of Borla or Magnaflow mufflers people use. You need a 3.5" diameter pipe. A friend of mine did this on his 2018 6.2L Sierra Denali (forgot what model Magnaflow - but the one recommended by NORCAL SS). Works well and sounds...

    GMC Performance Exhaust Experience

I would say the GM Borla system is the best choice for you. It is a little bit of a deeper and smoother tone than the last gen Escalade but similar in volume. No drone and keeps the switch over to 4 cylinder mode transparent.

    GMC Performance Exhaust Experience

Does that mean that none of the Bolra branded systems have the valve? I thought their touring system did have a valve. Wonder if the GM Borla is an S-Type muffler with the valve that knocks the sound down...

    Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac

The Wrangler DuraTrac is the tire GM uses on the Tahoe Z71 package (plus I've seen them on some non-Z71 Tahoes - just not sure what package/ trim). GM also uses them some of the various pickup trims. They look aggressive and are supposed to have good snow traction. Personally, I've used the BFG...

BLIZZAK DM-V2 or DEFENDER LTX M/S

I personally used Blizzaks on my Denali in the Michigan winter. They were absolutely fantastic and practically unstoppable with the AWD system. I had run both LTX M/S (not the newest defender version) and BFG A/T on a different truck prior to Yukon. The LTX were ok in snow but got pretty bad as...

My 2018 new tahoe low mpgs please post your mpgs to compare

Yeah - the downside of very short trips is the engine spends the entire trip getting warmed up. That reduces fuel economy. I had a 2010 Camaro (cam, headers, etc) and would do ~3 mile trips. I never got much better than 10 mpg doing that. Highway could easily get 22-24 mpg though. So was very...

My 2018 new tahoe low mpgs please post your mpgs to compare

I have to suspect it is how you drive. My father has a 2016 w/6.2 and 8 speed and ~11/12 MPG. He always drives very gently but has short city trips (3-4 miles) at 45-50 mph or less (highway trips he pulls ~20 mpg). I had a 2018 6.2/10 spd and averaged ~18 MPG but did 80% highway and pulled low...

At the point of getting rid of our 2016 Denali

Sorry to hear the dealer couldn’t resolve the issue for you. Another thought would be to replace the magnetic shocks with standard ones from a Suburban or regular Yukon XL. If those have a more appealing ride that might help you. I do agree with you that the 15 and 16 do have a harsher ride...

At the point of getting rid of our 2016 Denali

I know this doesn’t help you in your current situation but I’ve noticed the ride has gotten softer each year. I’ve had the chance to spend some time in some 2018s (short and long wheelbase with magnetic ride) and the ride is definitely smoother than I recall the 15s and 16s I’ve driven in. Don’t...

    18 Tahoe Exhaust

I’m a big fan of the GM Accessories Borla system. Similar in tone to Borla touring - smooth deep sound, no drone. Noticable upgrade over stock but not too loud (probably too quiet for some). Has a flapper to minimize the annoying sound when the engine kicks into 4 cylinder mode. I love the...

Battery Acts Dead but tests Good

I had a similar issue with my 12 Yukon (battery tested OK but was older). Replacing the battery seemed to solve my issue but I wonder if it was actually a cable issue described here and my moving the cables around for the install seemed to fix it.

    GMC Performance Exhaust Experience

Clearly too late as you already purchased this but if you liked the stock rumble on the previous generation 6.2 SUV (before exhaust got very quiet when they added AFM) you will love the GM Borla system for the new 6.2. I think volume is similar but the Borla has a smoother and deeper tone...

    2018 Yukon Oil Change Interval

I'm inclined to use and believe the GM Oil Life Monitor. GM has a patented algorithm that monitors actual condition of the oil based on a bunch of different inputs (engine/oil temperature, load, RPM, driving style, etc). It isn't just a count down timer like a lot of other oil change systems...

    Best sound deadener ?

Not sure what Frost King is made of but I've used some of these "budget" sound deadeners in the past. They were made for sealing ducts/roofing kind of like this. It was a tar based product with foil on top - looked exactly like Dynamat. I think it was called Peel & Seal. It worked fairly well...

    Led headlights for 08 denali

FYI - the GMT900 Escalade came with HID projector headlights and had optional multi-element LED projector's on the Premium and Platinum models. From what I understand, the total light output is slightly greater on the HIDs but the overall beam pattern is better on the LEDs of that generation...

    Led headlights for 08 denali

I can second this. I added HID bulbs to my 12 Yukon and they were terrible. More light output but overall less useful - very scattered and splotchy beam. I a high end HID kit too (with adjustable high-low beam modes). The big issue here is the light wasn't focused in the right spot in the...

    15, 16 vs 17 tahoe

Did both vehicles have the same wheels and tires? If one had 22" and another 18" that could certainly impact the ride. I've also noticed the long wheelbase models (Suburban, Yukon XL, etc) seem to ride smoother than the short ones (Tahoe, Yukon, etc). Do the 5.3 V8's have the 8 speed now? That...
