I know this thread is a little old, but I wanted to know if you ever got this fixed. I have a 1210 in my Impala and it is stuck on the boot up screen also. Been like this for a while and I haven’t decided if I want to send it to the eBay guy or attempt it myself with the provided instructions.
Just save your old trans pan and bolts to swap over to the new transmission, unless your stock pan doesn’t have a drain plug and you want one… Then I would buy the Dorman replacement pan. You will most likely need a replacement filter to accommodate the stock or Dorman pan. I’d buy the GM...
Final update to this project… the transmission has not leaked since the pan swap and it has continued to run fantastic. I bought a case of AC Delco Dexron 6 to do a fluid change on it within the next 5000 miles but other than that, I would definitely buy another Summit transmission and recommend...
Yes it is. I actually found that converter on here when I was looking for one. It has been good so far. No issues with it and they include a prepaid return shipping label for your core to send back to them.
If you are trying to keep it at the stock stall, get the GM replacement or the one I used from Transend, Part # CV-GM92A . I went with this one because the GM one was on national back order at the time.
If you want a higher stall converter than you should probably get a recommendation from a...
It was the OSC, part number OS 2921 from Rock Auto. I posted a pic of a part number spreadsheet I made up to get a final tab on this project. I’ve had no issues with the radiator or cooling system, especially with these hot days we have been having. I will keep an eye on it this winter though.
You are right about their warranty being good. Also, their customer service is also top notch.
I ended up experiencing another leak and this time, Summit sent me a replacement GM transmission oil pan and gasket to replace the pan that the trans came with. The GM pan has a ridge that runs the...
It wasn’t bad at all, just a little time consuming given my 55-60 hour a week work schedule. The shops around me wanted $3500 to rebuild my trans and that was motivation enough to take this on and get it done. I’d do it again as a side job with no issue.
An update after almost 2000 miles of driving…
The transmission has been damn near perfect. The truck has driven great on all of the trips we have taken over the summer. There were two issues with it that I just finished addressing this morning and wanted to mention it so that it can be...
Two more things worth mentioning about this replacement… I went to AutoZone and bought a Felpro transfer case to transmission gasket and it didn’t fit. It was off by half a stud on two of the studs no matter how I positioned it. Took it back and went to O’Reillys and bought their Pioneer...
Dorman makes a kit that is a complete set of lines for the truck. I bought it a few years ago when one of the lines from the block under the Yukon driver’s side to the rear axle blew out. It looks like every hard line is included. If you are DIY-ing or paying a mechanic, this kit should be...
I did the radiator and the trans lines because there was no guarantee that flushing would get all of the old fluid out. The radiator was also the original one so that was just a matter of time. I replaced the four hoses for the same reason and because I did the upper and lower rad hoses when I...
The transmission in my 04 Yukon finally crapped the bed back in February. Wife was driving it on the Interstate when it started revving to 5000 RPMS and wouldn’t get passed 50 MPH. She called me and told me what was happening and I told her to turn around and try to get back in the driveway...
My guess is there are multiple oil leaks going on and I am confident that the OP can do this work and save a f*ck-ton of money in the process.
My 2004 Yukon is just shy off 200k miles and I just fixed a few leaks. I replaced the valve cover gaskets, the oil pressure sending unit (because it...
I just got done repairing some oil leaks on my 2004 Yukon 4x4, with the oil pan gasket being the last of the repairs being done last night.
I can tell you right now that I replaced the valve cover gaskets and the oil pressure switch first and that solved a lot of the leakage. You can see...
Let's see if anyone can chime in on the replacement buttons. I was reading reviews of the Dorman kit I mentioned and there were reviews on 2004 Chevy and GMC vehicles... one guy even posted before and after pics and the radio is identical, but in a 2004. My gut says the kit will work, but I'd...
I have a 2004 Yukon SLT with the Bose 6 disc radio, looks like RPO UC6. The radio buttons are worn and I am looking for a replacement kit. The problem I am running into is Dorman, for one, doesn't list 2004 as compatible but the buttons look identical in their part number 76824. I looked at...
Ok, so I finally got around to playing with this today. I replaced the lower element on the drivers side... no dice. System still shuts down. I disconnected the power adj brake pedal and no change. Tomorrow I will test the wire and connector with the meter, with someone in the seat moving...
I just trashed our XP laptop a month ago...
We have owned the truck since 2008. We bought it during the economic meltdown since the GMC dealer was practically giving trucks away. The seat switch and memory functions all worked as they should. It just started malfunctioning one day and we...
I don't know anyone with a Tech 2... it would have been my first step in diagnosis if I did. Interesting info on the driver seat module. I believe our module is faulty or needs to be reprogrammed because the power seat slides forward when you push the switch for backwards and vice versa. The...
