:anitoof: Lets just say I am shocked that the new one isn't leaking also. With all seriousness its not easy to line up those pre bent hard lines. Alot has to come out to do it right.
Ok so I figured out the issue. Turns out it wasn't the fuel pump hard lines. It was the feed line that runs from the plastic lines off the tank to the fuel rail. It was leaking right at the braided bend which would explain the terrible smell in the cab. Didn't have to drop the tank but man was...
I have a 2010 avalanche. Recently it will pop out a few times when filling. No big deal I was figuring it was a vent valve or charcoal canister. A month or so later it absolutely reeks of gas when standing next to it. No lights on. Runs great no hesitation no hard starts. Looking for suggestions...
Ok here is the big update everyone was waiting for. I finally had some time to work on my pile. Put a new MAF and MAP sensor. Then ran some logs on the cam position sensor. It was -9 degrees so I zeroed it back at zero. Took it for a test drive and it it’s great. Truck runs so much better. After...
It will rev to rev limiter in neutral
Park without issue. And yes this started right after which is why I was suspecting timing. But timing checked out already. I also changed plugs / wires, water pump.
this is definitely not heat soak. The engine will not rev past 3000 in 2nd gear and it will lose power temporarily for a few seconds after even under minimal throttle.
At idle and with “cruising around” under 50% throttle everything runs perfect. Idles smooth accelerates smooth. Only when it...
I mean its original trans. 135k miles. 1-2 is good 2-3 is a not the greatest it does slip /shift rough under load/ throttle. I actually checked the fluid a few days ago it looks good. Pink and not burning. Level was a smidge low right at the top of the first "hot" level indicator.
Another thing...
Yes I have a Autell tablet scanner. I’m sure I can monitor those sensors.
As stated my truck has a MAF code pending, I cleaned the MAF and went for a ride still has the same symptoms. Maybe the MAF itself is not reading properly. I will look into the map and cam position sensor. Makes sense...
Exactly what I thought. Which is why I pulled the cap / rotor to make sure the timing was right. Everything seems fine. Plug wires are new. All the connections are in. The truck doesn't even go out in the rain it just sits in the garage lol.
I was going through all the systems for pending codes...
Ive been out replicating the issue running live data logs on my scanner and it has yet to throw a CEL.It will still lose power under WOT / heavy load.
No I do not think its been changed at least in the last 50k.
I just pulled them both off this morning, gave it a quick cleaning / filing. Looks good. Last time I experience the power loss the CEL did not come on. Truck just lost power and shuttered. I should also add it takes a few seconds for it to regain itself after an episode. Even after I let out of...
I really don't think its fuel pressure because it was doing the same symptoms before and after the new pump. But definitely worth a shot. The old one completely died out on me luckily it died in the garage after a long winter of sitting lol. You know I never thought of the bad cat idea Im going...
Im lost. The truck runs great under normal throttle, Idles smooth not misfiring or anything. Even at around 70% throttle up till 4000 it runs great. When I put it under heavy load (going up a steep hill) or WOT condition it will lose all power and start to shudder as if its misfiring. I pulled...
so i went hunting around and everything seems fine lol. very weird. truck is running fine everything is still good. i did not find any corroded ground wire either all looked good and attached. im stumped.
yes battery still holds charge i took it out and left it on a tender over night and let it...
Right I was thinking the same thing! I plan to check grounds this coming weekend when I have more time. Truck has rust for sure. But its not rotting out or anything to carried away. The starter has seen better days lol. Wires seem alright a little cruddy tho. When I get under there to do the...
you think the starter going bad shorted the electrical system? I thought it might of popped a fuse but I checked all the fuses to see if anything fried everything seemed alright. Either way Im replacing the starter going to have the alternator tested.
everything is working fine now accept the...
I am pretty mechanically inclined Im just trying to figure out of these 2 are linked or not because Im stumped. Keep in my mind my truck is a garage queen, its been on a tender for 2 months in a heated garage. Its a restoration project of mine at the moment.
So I go to turn it on and just...
2 completely different motors. But yes for that gen LS motor that is about what you should see. Ive owned many many LS based cars / trucks they all make way more oil pressure then these old SBC vortecs.
Not sure Im not to familiar with these motors. Ive always worked on LS motors. This is my...
Im well aware of the GM spec 10 psi per 1000 rpm. so realistically 5psi is conisdered in spec for idle. I just dont feel comfortable with that. Once my truck gets warm I see anywhere between 10-15. It just honestly bothers me lol. What does everyone else see? Im thinking of running some thicker...
just wanted to thank everyone for the proper guidance here. it turns out the p/s pump pulley was causing it! I had a shop push it back on and the squeak went away instantly. i would do it myself i dont have the tool. im mechanically inclined and i would really never of thought the pulley could...
ok i went and verified the clearance on the P/S pump pulley. if your diagram is right the pulley has definitely walked itself out over the years. cant even see the pump shaft i had to feel for it. its a good half inch out. so i guess its that time. i know these are a real pain to do on these...
