    There are a number of different possibilities ... if it's consistent at nearly any RPM there's a good chance it could be either of what you mentioned (alternator and/or PS pump). I'd slip your belt off and run the engine momentarily to see if the noise goes away - or changes pitch perhaps...

    Bose amp bypass?

    Replace both the Bose speakers and Bose amplifier. The stock Bose speakers (and amp) have oddball proprietary specs such as resistances for example. If you're seeking a better sound, replace it all. Mixing and matching OEM and aftermarket will just create more frustration than the Bose already...

    I put these on last week. I believe they are the same model (K Source brand) as the eBay auction listed above. I like the way they look. It's been a little odd getting use to them when driving as there are two mirrors per side; the tall narrow field on top and the manually adjusted wide view...
