2003 Tahoe "rear access open" message

I have found that I need to really "slam" the rear hatch closed, otherwise only one of the two latches will engage. When only one latch engages, the rear door feels shut tight, and appears to be shut tight, but the dome light remaining on is my clue that the other latch didn't quite engage. On...

rewiring a factory fuse to run off second battery

I wouldn't use a "quick disconnect connector." I would use a round eyelet terminal, just like GM does, on the charge wire that goes from your Auxiliary Battery to Stud 1. Fuse that wire as near as possible to your auxiliary battery. If you have mounted the battery on the passenger side of the...

rewiring a factory fuse to run off second battery

Yes, it is a bad idea, as it is wholly unnecessary. No need for fuse taps at all. Just remove the fuse in the panel altogether. Attach an independently fused 8GA wire from your secondary battery directly to Stud 1, where the wire to the trailer harness is already attached. Done.

    Suggestions For Second Camera Location

Instead of above the third brake light, if you can move the camera below and behind* the third brake light, you might have better rearward vision nearer to the trailer hitch, without the arch of the rear hatch getting in the way. *behind means further to the rear of the vehicle, not further...

    Suggestions For Second Camera Location

The curve of the rear hatch makes seeing the hitch ball from above somewhat impractical. One would need the camera to be mounted on an extended arm out and away from the third brake light, which would obviously look weird hanging out there like a school bus or FedEx truck hemispherical rear...

What's the best DD for 2003 yukon

What is a "DD"? From the context of the answers already provided, it sounds like a head unit. So why is a head unit abbreviated with "dd" insteaf of "HU"? DD sounds like daily driver to me, but the context of this thread does not support that tradition.

    Inside the Bose Subwoofer Assembly

Thank you Red Rocket for opening that Bose Accustimass box up and posting the pictures so that we can see inside. Why, by the way, are you replacing it? Everything looks like it is in good condition. Was it not enough bass? The Denali's that have that Bose box have the luxury amp that...

    Suggestions For Second Camera Location

My second camera is mounted as high as possible, by the third brake light. High on the hatch. It's called a "Hatch Cam".

UPDATE on 8" Shallow Mount Subwoofer drivers to fit in 01-02 OEM box

I think Jeff's install that I reposted for you in this thread is about the most instructive and similar to your situation as you will find on TYF. You will notice that his "before" pic that I reposted shows the same Bose Accoustimass subwoofer box that you found a photo of on eBay. Same unit...

    Undercarige Rust

Just to be clear, GM does NOT install NOX RUST X-121-B at the factory. GM wax dipped the frames in our GMT800 era. Rather, GM recommended NOX RUST X-121-B to professional body and frame repair shops, as well as to upfitters who modify wheelbases to GM vehicles for vocational bodies, livery...

UPDATE on 8" Shallow Mount Subwoofer drivers to fit in 01-02 OEM box

Red Rocket... yes, you've discovered that the 2000-2002 Denali and Denali XL rear subwoofers are Bose "Accoustimass" tuned subwoofer units... the driver inside those tuned ported boxes is more like 5.25". This is not the box into which you can add an 8" driver, even if you did have time to take...

UPDATE on 8" Shallow Mount Subwoofer drivers to fit in 01-02 OEM box

Do you mean the Denali XL? Or do you mean the Denali short wheel base? The MTX Thunderform doesen't fit the Denali XL because it is a long wheel base, and the factory space for the rear mounted hidden subwoofer is constrained by the cubby hole directly above the sub. Since this cubby hole is...

UPDATE on 8" Shallow Mount Subwoofer drivers to fit in 01-02 OEM box

100% Correct. The subwoofer drivers listed and compared thus far in this thread are for fitting in the factory 8" rear mounted NON-Y91 subwoofer enclosure for the Suburban and Yukon XL only. I have no idea. I don't have access to a Tahoe box. A member here offered me his friend's...

    Undercarige Rust

    1. When driving over salted or brine covered roads, pressure rinse the undercarriage as soon as practical, every time. 2. Wherever rust appears, treat it with phosphoric acid. Let that sit for no less than 4 hours, but no more than one day. Neutralize the acid with baking soda dissolved in...

UPDATE on 8" Shallow Mount Subwoofer drivers to fit in 01-02 OEM box

Yes, that Pioneer TS-SW2002D2-8 is the one mentioned in the opening post, and in fact is the subwoofer that inspired me to create this new thread, since it replaced the previous and popular TS-SW814-D. Slowly but surely, I'm working on adding more subs to the list. One of the more promising...

    Tahoe interior measurements/pics?

Another way to look at it... GM designed the Suburban first. The 4 door "shorty" didn't come into existence until 1995. The Suburban was introduced in 1935. From a towing perspective... should the tail (trailer) wag the dog (tow vehicle)? Or should the dog be the one wagging the tail...

    HD Hood Swap

That really depends on the professional you find to do the work. Only the person you request a bid from can answer that. I've read one estimate of 10 hours to measure, pattern, cut, separate, fold, reweld, fill and prep for paint. That doesn't count the hood, nor the painting time, nor the...

UPDATE on 8" Shallow Mount Subwoofer drivers to fit in 01-02 OEM box

DiggityDots... Since you've already replaced all your door drivers with Kicker branded components, you might as well consider a Kicker branded 8" subwoofer. Kicker makes at least five (5) current model 8" subwoofer drivers that are designated "shallow mount". As Kicker's advertising slogan...

UPDATE on 8" Shallow Mount Subwoofer drivers to fit in 01-02 OEM box

Haven't had time to add more speaker models yet, but I did update the opening post with specific OEM enclosure dimensions that I measured personally this afternoon with the OEM driver removed.

4 guage or 0 guage for dual battery

500 amp CONTINUOUS Duty? I did a search, and found them. Wow. By comparison, the GM factory solenoid for dual batteries (RPO TP2) is only 100 amp CD.

Hd hood on 2002 yukon denali

1SickVeilSideZ.... are you still around? I saw a cell phone pic taken at night of your completed hood, but wanted to see more pics in the day. After what you described above from your metal guy, I would REALLY like to see UNDER the hood, how the cuts were folded over and finished off. Thanks!

4 guage or 0 guage for dual battery

What is the continuous duty rating of your solenoid that separates and connects your two batteries? If the continuous duty rating of that solenoid is only 100 amps, and you have a 250 amp fuse, then...

4 guage or 0 guage for dual battery

Excessive. Your factory wiring harnesses will have burned before the 250 amp fuse separates. The largest fuse I've ever seen GM put in an SUV was a 125 Amp megafuse, for a circuit that powered an electric motor that had to be powerful enough to steer a fully loaded drive axle on a 3/4 ton...

    Amp location and bypass/re-use

Mondo... I don't think I can be much help beyond offering suggestions on where to find factory components, like where your amp is, or where a circuit might be. I don't know much about aftermarket system set ups to provide any advice beyond that limited scope. I will say this though... I'm...

UPDATE on 8" Shallow Mount Subwoofer drivers to fit in 01-02 OEM box

I'm not coming across any list... I'm making the list as I run across viable candidates, as time allows. You can help make this list too. I made a similar list on this website two years ago, and recently edited that list two days ago, but decided that the earlier list and the thread were too...
