    The Mystical Misfire...

Okay, let me start off by saying I haven't been on here in a while due to being an engineering major in college... not much time for this crazy aspect of life called 'fun' :) But anywho, I have this really bad misfire going on that I cannot get to the bottom of... 99 tahoe 5.7, 160,xxx. 4...

What did you do to your OBS GMT400 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

That stuff peels right off when you don't want it anymore too doesn't it? Flippin' sweet

    98 Yukon - Police Package? Yes/No?

At the time OBS trucks were made, the L31 code was just the regular old 5.7. These trucks only came with three engines, the 6.5 diesel (very rare), the 350 vortec, and for the 2500 Suburbans a 454 was an option as well. The last two codes listed asre paint codes i believe.

    97 Yukon Whining

Drove mine for three and a half years with a howling, it finally broke up over this past summer, turned out the pinion bearings had been going bad for about 35 thousand miles. Common issue, but I really no REAL damage can be done so long as its not leaking. Just leave it alone. Thats how im...

    1996 tahoe idle

Ii it a vortec or a TBI? Sounds like a bad idle air control valve if its a vortec, make sure all the plugs on the drivers side of the throttle body (there should be two) are connected securely.

    Misfiring problem

I would check the fuel pressure.

    What is it worth???

The fact thats it's a 2 door helps, but i think the engine swap and broken a/c is gonna put a god dent in the price. And don't forget, curb appeal is a big chunk of private party value too. I would try to at least find matching (cheap steel) wheels for it.

    Oil pressure issues

Unless you have a 454. Then you whipple the shit out of it and have yourself a good time.

    Gonna have a fun weekend!

I would replace the intake bolts for sure, and head bolts depending on condition (don't tjink they are TTY). Definitely flush your coolant system and do an oil change. IMO

    Oil pressure issues

Oh right, I forgot.. Alright so he's pushing more into the 197 zone, yeah, no chirping tires for you buddy.

    Oil pressure issues

I would recommend this test as well. I'm not saying for sure it was a cam bearing though, you're right, usually when they go it doesn't last too long. However, I've had about 1/4" of lateral movement in my cam for about 2k miles now with no issues. The mechanic that worked on it when it ate up...

    Oil pressure issues

Depends on the gearing. These things don't have tons of power, but they have enough. Rated at 255 horse, and a 300 and some change worth of torque. My truck has more than enough power to be pulling 1000 pounds off the back and still maintain 90-95(very easily) on the highway. My brother's '03...

    Oil pressure issues

Sounds like you could have a spun bearing. When the bearing spins and blocks the oil port the pressure shoots up, then when it spins back into place again the pressure drops. That rattling could be your cam (if it's the cam bearings that are bad). This would cause a misfire too as the camshaft...

99 GMC Yukon Denali Starting Issue

The P1345 commonly indicates that the distributor gear may be going too. How many miles does your truck have, and was it ever replaced that you know of? This may not be a problem at all anymore (especially if the code hasn't come back) but a worn gear could add even more timing in that...

Overdrive issues? Thats TQ lockup, sounds like a bad one to me too...

    engine noise

The poor thing, that's a painful death... If its actually shot. Sounds like a bad knock, where is the sound coming from? Top end, bottom end, valvetrain? What does the oil pressure gauge read?
  17. B

    Random hard shifting

Improper line pressures possibly? Or maybe a bad servo in the valve body? Hopefully somebody else will chime in here...

    97 z71 rearend

Do NOT put a G80 in your truck, you will regret it. The G80 isn't a true posi, it's just a modified slip that puts all the torsional force of the driveshaft/axle on a small pin inside the diff when it locks up. That pin will break. I know someone on erected has a good video of it...

    Squat???

I say we conduct an experiment: Once Bowtie finishes dropping his tahoe, we make him haul a 2 ton trailer over a series of speedbumps and sharp angles.

ACDelco Distributor Cap & Rotor, Not brass ???

Use the ac delco parts, a brassed part won't make that much of a difference.

Which is a good fuel pump for a 97 yukon?

This, this is true. I would recommend that. Get all the gritty crud out of there to avoid it potentially messing up a new pump.

    95 tahoe 4x4

You can put the push button transfer cases in neutral as well. I had to on my 99 when my sunshell erupted and locked up the tranny. I believe you just put the tranny in neutral, apply brake, and hold down 2hi and 4lo buttons for five seconds. I guess all the obs trucks are towable!

    Fabtech Lift and Steering stabilizer

The rag joint is on the steering shaft itself. There should be a universal joint on one side and the rag joking is that funky looking thing on the other. I know a company makes a replacement billet aluminum u-joint that replaces the rag joint for a little elbow grease and about $70.
