Boiled battery - voltage too high?

Thanks again for the assistance. I tested the voltage with a voltmeter and the digital gauge in the lighter, below are the readings. At start with lights on: 14.4-14.6 At start with lights off: same as above After driving lights off: 14.4 Never seemed to drop to not charge condition, but...

Boiled battery - voltage too high?

Thanks. I cannot seem to open the upload, but I have read about these charging systems and the range from 13.8-15.5. I should note the alternator is new, so won't necessarily answer the question about the initial issue. I will take the voltage readings tonight with the voltmeter, but will...

Boiled battery - voltage too high?

Thank you for the replies and definitely not trying to find an issue where there isn't one. As an update, I've replaced alternator and on third battery just last night (Interstate and not Bosch for the third) and now charging at 14.4-14.6. I really wanted this to be functioning property, but...

Boiled battery - voltage too high?

Thanks again. Do I need to figure out what is causing this, or do you think it was a bad alternator that ruined the battery and now a bad battery? Or is the high charging caused by something else?

Boiled battery - voltage too high?

Thanks. This is a new battery - the second, however, it also leaked from 15.2volts before I replaced the alternator. After new alternator, it all seemed fine last night and then this morning while idling only, volts were 15.2 and it leaked. Thanks again

Boiled battery - voltage too high?

Update: battery continued to boil and Denali charged at 15.2v. Alternator began to whine, so replaced with an Bosch that was sold as OEM on Amazon. Seemed fine and drove it last night for 30 mins and volts were mid-14s. Today began charging at 15.2 and battery leaked. Please does anyone...

    Big 3 Help

Hi All, Is the RVC sensor below (copied from this thread) considered the voltage regulator, or is there still a voltage regulator in the alternator as with older vehicles? I ask bc I spoke with 2 mechanics, one a GM tech, who told me the voltage regulator is in the alternator and not external...

Boiled battery - voltage too high?

Thank you for the responses, very much appreciated. I have continued looking around and found some info that may be known, but thought could be helpful for future searches. The 05+ trucks have a Regulated Voltage Control system, which is a fuel-saving measure and reduces the alternator output...

Boiled battery - voltage too high?

Hi All, My one month old Bosch battery is leaking acid from the vent holes. Truck is a 2006 Denali. I discovered this bc of a windshield washer fluid leak and thought maybe I damaged a hose while replacing the battery. I went to Pep Boys to exchange the battery and was told this is caused...

Traction active, WSS and Service Stability

Hi All, Follow up to the above. I bought a scanner that displays the speed of the wheel sensors. They are all functioning and no one specific sensor seems to be an issue. When the traction control activates, the sensors do report different speeds, however, it varies from sensor to sensor...

Traction active, WSS and Service Stability

I picked up the Denali and the traction active happens most of the time when starting from a stop. Mechanic said all sensors appear to be working as they should be per his scanner - even when driving. There are no other codes - ABS or otherwise. I did not ride with the mechanic, but when the...

Traction active, WSS and Service Stability

Hi All, I hope someone may be able to shed some light on this issue. 2006 Denali had service stability and ABS lights on and traction control would activate. Mechanic found the drivers front ABS sensor had a broken wire. Replaced the sensor, confirmed the ring in the hub looks good and now...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Hi, Is the AWD Denali diff? If so, please let me know your experience with PTP. I think I need one also and considering options, including a shop in NJ recommended by Tonyrodz and others.

    2006 Denali Hatch actuator

Ha. You're probably right. Glad it's sltill working. With limited time to do anything vehicle-related, I was frustrated having to change it a coupe of times. Fortunately, the last time it died in the unlocked position bc it was a couple of months before it was fixed.

    2006 Denali Hatch actuator

I had an issue with the Dorman and went through three before giving up on them. A cheaper one didn't last long either. I've read a lot of reviews about them not lasting. I finally ordered an OEM used actuator and locking mechanism on eBay for $60. So far so good. I would avoid the Dorman and...

    Denali rusting hood

Haha, knew that was coming. I am hoping to not spend a lot on this fix (although not likely) bc I need a front diff and likely brake lines soon.

    Denali rusting hood

My Denali's hood has an area of rust under the hood between the hood panel and a support, which has now come though the top side of the hood. Googled it and not too common apparently. Has anyone had this issue and repaired without replacing the hood? Thanks in advance.

    Gloss black lug nuts

Thank you, I think they are too long, the chrome I have for the chrome rims are the shorter "bulge" type, which was hoping to find in black. I was also hoping not to spend that much. Thanks again
