I'm getting ready to install the AirRaid Jr kit on my '14 Yukon XL and the instructions say to disconnect the neg battery terminal first;
a) is it necessary and
b) if so why?

Thanks

I just put one in and didn't disconnect anything. I think they're trying to avoid getting MAF codes, but you don't need to unplug it anyway. Unless your taking out the stock filter box, which I did not.

I think its a general safety in case you bump into something. I've seen it on things that make me scratch my head. Its probably not a bad idea to disconnect, I believe it will help the computer adjust to the new air flow.

If it is needed for the ecu to adjust then it makes sense, but otherwise i guess i wouldn't.
Thanks
