So today is the first time I used the 4wd in my Yukon, and it made the strangest noise, sounded like the tires were rubbing on the fenders, it worked but the noise bugs me. I was going straight, and the terrain wasn't bumpy just muddy, once I got it on pavement I gave it some gas and it made the same noise, it almost sounded like gears not engaging completely? It may be low on fluid because I can see a slight leak, would that cause the noise? It only did it when I hit the gas medium hard, but without doing that it didn't make any noise and I could feel that it was in 4wd, any suggestions???

My transfer case made a terrible noise when engaged as well. My 4wd still worked but I knew it was only a matter of time before it blew up. If your TC is leaking fluid I would address that immediately and do not use your 4wd until you fix the problem. In the event you need a new TC check out transfercase.com they have great prices and a quality product.

How are your tires? Is there a big difference in tread depth on all 4 tires? I've seen mismatched tire sizes cause similar concerns before. Reason I ask because tires will lower tread depth can rotate faster than the other set. This can make the front wheels try to spin faster than the rear.
