I'm looking into buying a hand held tuner and I have heard that some of the tuners can change shift points and others things with the trans. The 2001 Tahoe I just bought is slipping bad on the 1-2 & 2-3 shift, so I'm wondering if anyone around this area has a tuner with this capability that I could borrow, and see if it will help the trans shift better. I know it will need a new trans in the future, but if I can make this one last a little while longer, it might be worth the money in my eyes.

i used a diablo sport predator (hand held) for 6+yrs and it did everything I needed/wanted until I reached its limits/capabilities (now using EFILive).
I was able to keep the trans from slipping to bad and kept it alive alil longer by using the diablo to turn torque management on and playing with shift points and line pressure. I still use the hand held to quickly load my ass kickn tune file when/if some1 says they want line up!
its vin coded and I haven't figured out how to wipe it out
hope this helps

My wife has a Superchips Cortex on her tahoe.. you can adjust shift pressures.. but mine also done from building the trans and valve body.. but back when it was stock it was a noticeable difference she hated driving it stock.. Tahoe are so underpowered it helps a little bit.

Ditto... I got the Superchips Flashpaq and it's got plenty of options. Free updates too.

Yes they are vin coded. I think you can buy an upgrade to a add another vin or to unlock it. Looks like the original version is on sale at the moment. New version is out as well. I bought mine when autozone (online) had a 20% off deal. That's worth looking at.

Thank you. I have a stock 2000 Tahoe that could use the power, and I have a 2001 Tahoe with a 12" lift, 513 gears and 40" tires that has a slipping trans, so if I could find one that I could switch back and forth, that would be great. I'll check into the superchips and see what it takes.
