I have an 04 Chevy Suburban that is giving me problems with acceleration. Cranks up great but after about 3-4 minutes when I try to accelerate there is no power or acceleration, even with gas pedal almost down to the floor. I ran my gas way low the day this started but I didn't run out of gas. I'm wondering if it could be due to trash in the gas tank maybe clogging filter??? At least that's what I'm hoping! Any ideas, suggestions?

If you think clogged fuel filter, then you should check fuel pressure under the hood.

And to help clarify your issue....
- when you try to accelerate, does the engine respond to throttle input (does it Rev up like it should).
- by accelerate I assume truck in gear driving? Does it act the same in park or neutral?
- does it idle fine at all times, and only act up when you give it gas, or does it start to idle funny after a while

Initially it cranks up just fine, I drive for a few minutes the engine responds fine then after that it doesn't rev like it should and I get no speed. It idles just fine if I'm not giving it the gas or it's in park.

I'm thinking it's the pump, but the fuel filter should be cheap and easy to replace first. Also check the fuel pressure regulator. Fuel pressure testing will narrow down.

Check fuel pressure with a fuel pressure gauge at the schrader valve on the fuel rail. You should have 55-62 PSI with just the key on.

If that is low, then the fuel pump and/or filter need replaced. Change the filter first and recheck.

If it checks out within spec at key on engine off, have a friend watch the gauge while you power brake it up to 3000 rpm. It should not drop very much. If it drops to zero, you have a weak pump.

Other things to check are the MAF (Mass Air-Flow Sensor) and vacuum leaks. With a decent scantool you can read the data from some of the sensors to determine if those are performing correctly.

Start with the fuel pressure checks.

Thank you both so much, I have to work today but I'm getting it looked at. Those were my ideas too but I'm NOT a mechanic, sold parts for 7 years and picked up knowledge along the way. I was just freaking out because I haven't even made my first payment on the vehicle and there's no warranty! Thanks again for the input, I will let you all know what the outcome is!
