Probably like many of you, the older V1's, of which I have two, were essentially useless to use in the trucks with Rear Blind Spot monitoring, etc. as the radar units would constantly set the V1 off on Ka band.

Well I checked with Valentine, and the newer units have software that 'ignores' the type of Ka frequency used by the blind spot monitoring systems. My V1 was in fact old enough that it was recommended that I simply trade it in for a brand new unit, which I did for $300.

The new unit which I installed using my existing Savvy accessory and running the power cable up the left side trim to the left of the rear view mirror, took all of about 5 minutes max and works perfectly. No false alarms either from my truck or others around me; I couldn't be happier. Definitely look into this if the V1 is your detector of choice and if it doesn't have the latest ESP software package.

Let us know if the new Yukons or Escalades set it off when they hit the Brakes infront of you.

I'm certain that the LED brake lights will set off the laser warning on the V1, as will the laser ACC on Infinitis, etc. But that is not anywhere as big a deal as following a car with radar blind spot monitoring, which now doesn't 'trip up' the V1.

What is the "secret" of getting the cable behind the trim?
Trim removal?

Thanks,
Bob

I have a plastic trim tool that I simply used to slightly pry the trim away and then pretty easily placed the V1 power cord behind the trim. At times I used a large flat head screwdriver to help 'stuff' the cord behind the trim a little deeper. Take your time and just be careful and youll have no issues.

I had both of my V1's upgraded, and the difference is amazing. No more false alarms from trucks and other vehicles in heavy traffic.

My V1 was old enough that I just sent it in, paid $300 and received a brand new unit in return. Made good sense to me.
