Hey everybody! 1997 Tahoe 4x4 5.7 210k. Right to the point, When I hit the brakes I notice the lights will come on and then shut off if I keep pushing, then they come back on when I get close to the end of the pedal near the floor. I don't have brake lights in the range in which I need them the most (if I brake normally). Brake light switch? I just don't understand why it would be contacting only in certain areas. Searched the forum and couldn't find anything, but I suck at searches for some reason. Thanks in advance for any tips, tricks and lessons learned in your travels.

Thanks Sunlit, I figured as much but wasn't 100% on how the switch worked. Trying to keep the repair bills down with the holidays coming and all. Good news is she's almost a real solid truck now after all the work I've put in!

Just being cautious here, but should he be at all concerned that there is so much travel in that brake pedal? I don't think mine has ever been even close to the floor.

It does feel as though the booster might have a bad seal, but does a pretty good job of stopping the vehicle.

unknown at this time.
booster doesn't determine end stop of brake travel. it just eases effort tying to do it. either brakes are out of adjustment or bad mc or air.. rarely bad valve seas in abs might do that.

You're right sunlit, I meant master cyl. not booster itself. Thank you for correcting that. Again, your knowledge astounds me
