Going to order a new L31HD for my Tahoe and trying to make sure I don't miss anything I'll need. I have already got: intake gaskets, intake bolts, new distributor gear, exhaust gaskets, water pump gaskets, plugs/wires. Other than fluids, is there anything I am missing or should do while I'm at it? Already did the MPFI swap and intake gaskets will be the good fel pros. Plan on using everything else from my existing motor. Does anyone know of a set of exhaust manifold bolts? Have one broken off and all are rusty as hell, so figure I would replace them all.

concerned about the parts brand and numbers of those things. can you list what you are looking at so i can make sure you are getting good stuff
? i would get bolts from the dealer that are oem fit and finish as felpro does not have any i think. anti-seize for them from permatex would be good. no synthetic oil for a while till broken in. high end gaskets for oil filter adapter/pan and new quick disconnect would be good. felpro and gm. new gm oil pressure sender if not included on new block. make sure all accys are clean and spin without noise. machine shop clean the manifold. new engine mounts maybe. oil priming tool and prime the hell out of new engine before startup. in fact use regular dino on older engine once or twice to dilute the dirty oil in the cooler assembly so the new engine does not get much dirty oil in it. fram and mobil filters have good filter ability which is good for break in. clean out the throttle body. all i can think of right now.

What I have so far:
Engine (don't know whether it comes with the block sensors, I would think no, but planned on reusing most)
Fel Pro MS9800T Intake Gasket Kit
Fel Pro ES72224 Intake Bolts
Ac Delco 103457356 Distributor Gear
AC Delco Plugs/wires/cap
I replaced the quick connect with the nipple version not too long ago when I redid the entire coolant system. This included a new radiator so I'm not too concerned with the oil cooler, but will likely flush it out someway before I hook it up. I bought a proform oil primer with the collar to ensure the valvetrain gets oil. I had planned on priming it on the stand before installing it, or should I wait until I get it completely installed then prime before installing distributor?

The only exhaust bolts I have seen were dorman, and they were essentially just grade 8 bolts and washers. Dad is the parts man at a GM dealer so I reckon I can get replacements through him. Other than fluids, RTV, threadlocker etc. I think I've got everything. The water pump off the old motor has literally 500 miles on it, so planned on just picking up some gaskets and reusing it. May throw a PS pump at it while I have it pulled as I am pretty sure its the original.

i would flush the cooler out for sure. yo can prime on the stand but it will leak with no cooler attached. regardless would do it once installed to flush out all the air in the system, level the oil one last time before start.

Didn't even think about the cooling line. Guess I cold plug them but probably better to just do it in the truck. I was thinking about the Blackbear tune, and how if I was going to do it now would be the time since the truck will be a good month or so from me getting the motor in. I have looked at their website and didn't see much information about what the traditional tune entails. I know several people have gotten them, but I feel like all have modified their engines somehow to gain something from it. Is their any benefit to doing the tune if I am leaving everything stock and plan on running cats and all?

you can get 15-25 more hp depending on the changes they make to it in a stock setup. i would wait till engine break-in first.

Just saw how cheap motor mounts are. Should I go ahead and do it since im gonna be there anyway? Just don't want to bite into something that's gonna ********** in the long run. I assume they just bolt to the frame?
