Shaky Side Mirrors

Hi everyone,

My 2004's side mirrors have developed a constant shake while on the interstate. First my driver's mirror started to do it and now my passenger side just began about a month ago! It slowly gets worse over time. It's not the whole mirror that shakes but just the glass. I've tried pushing on the centers of them but that did nothing and I didn't want to crack them so I didn't push extremely hard. I also recently tightened the bolts down to see if that would help and, of course, it didn't either. And of course you can't remove the glass without cracking the mirrors (can you?). These mirrors have all the options (Power fold, auto dim, heated, puddle lights, etc.). The ride quality on the interstate is pretty smooth I think. I usually drive around 80. I also have to drive on a dirt road from time to time. Could that be a factor?

Anyone else have the same problem? It's driving me nuts!!

U can remove the glass. It just has some clips that hold it on. If u look at the replace glass peices online u can see how they attach.. I have a wall of subs and my mirrors shake like crazy and have fell off before so I just amazing gooped them on.

I've tried to remove one from a Suburban at a salvage yard and it ended up cracking like crazy no matter how easy I went. What's the trick? I have replaced my passenger side mirror within the last year so I'm aware of all of the little clips in a circle on the back. Is there an easy way to unclip them?

I just stick a large screw driver between the mirror and the round mounting plate and carefully pry out. It ha worked for me all the time. I've only worked on the power folding mirrors though. The driver's will tend to shake a bit b/c it is a heavier glass due to the auto dimming feature and the black goo that is in it. Not much to tighten down on the motor once you remove the glass.
