Right now my towing capacity appears to be somewhere around 6500 to 7000 lbs (depending on which website you use). I've been looking at boats and the size I'm looking at are closer to the 10,000 lbs range on the trailer. Is the a way to increase the towing capacity of a 99 Tahoe. Signature for stats and/or ask for any additional needed info.

No way to legally improve your liability which is a bigger concern than actual performance

deephaven is right. to go out like that requires numerous upgrades not to mention a stronger frame. not really feasible. best option that cost the least is a c/k2500 3/4tom obs vortec burb with a gasoline 7.4l option in it. all hd and extra cooling options will be in it. it will give you a 10k trailer capacity with a 1k tongue. the gvwr of the vehicle is an automatic 2k more then the hoes. getting the 6.5l diesel option will actually de-reate your towing capacity so avoid that engine if you need 10k loading.

spec numbers start on p.23.

Having owned several boats and several 1/2 ton trucks and SUVs, towing a boat that big with your truck is a horrible idea. The boat will tow you. Emergency handling will be horrific with that setup.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I figured. Just needed a reality check to be sure. Thanks, guys.

And if you crash and cause any damage you'll get your ass sued off.

Stock, my lade HATED towing my 7k lb boat. Brakes are super undersized and anemic was an understatement. BIL has a 3/4 ton diesel and it pulls it like it isn't there. Proportionally about how a 1k lb utility trailer felt behind my truck.
