Trust me.. I was looking forward to it. Not going to lie though, not being able to get the handles in my color was a little discouraging for me. Getting those painted (to meet my standards) was going to be a PITA.

Can this mod be done if my truck did not come with the puddle lights?

Very nice install.... the channel track is a good trick to ease the install in various ways.

I installed similar lights on my boat under the gunnels for some ambient deck lighting and they have held up on an open boat stored on a freshwater lake for several years now. I also used a small length to light up a baitwell that is filled with somewhat salty water and it did not take long for the salt to find its way in and corrode the wiring.... so you definitely want to seal the soldered terminations up very well with adhesive heat-shrink and also some liquid electrical tape.

The puddle lights are controlled by the BCM. It is to the left of the steering column under the dash.

Grey connector, PIN 8, Light Grey Wire with green stripe = + voltage for puddle lights. Tap into that, there is a grommet through the floor right by the snap lock for the floor mat in the LF. I just tapped in, loomed a wire, ran it down the "Denali" kickplate and through the rubber grommet.

Interested in doing something similar on a Suburban LT - but no puddle lights. However, seems like tying it into the interior lights would accomplish the same - they come up when the unlock key is pressed, or door opened.....

Any ideas where to look to tap into for that? Any by "tap" - I assume you used a crimp wire tap?

I actually ordered a dimmer this morning so I can tone them down at times. I might make them more the level of the puddle lights. They are definitely plenty bright.

Has anyone tried the "3548" led strips vs. the 5050's A bit smaller surface mount LEDs, and thus a bit less light output.

If you really want to go blingy, you can get these LED strips in an RGB format, that, when connected to a controller, will allow you to change colors, run a color pattern, etc, etc.... I think I just want white :boti:
