Not sure what it does with the mainstream aftermarket HUs/adapters. Although, I'd guess with the Rosen 1210, it retains it's factory function(s).

Ok I'm gonna ask a dumb question here...

Which button is the voice command button?

My truck is an 08 and therefore didn't come with Bluetooth from the factory.

My '08 didn't, either. I assumed David was referring to the middle button with the "talking head" icon:

But, when Googling for this pic, I see there's a "Voice Command" button on the rearview mirror (2013 redesign pictured):

Yes, I am referring to the "Answer Call" button on the steering wheel. Sorry lol

On my truck, with the Rosen, that button mutes the radio while listening to the radio.

I don't think I have ever pressed that button while on a call or when a call was coming in...

Guess I need to try that... Lol

Also, for the record, the Rosen does in fact improve the sound quality of the Bose system. Before the Rosen I couldn't tell I had a factory sub woofer under the console. The Rosen really wakes it up.

I tried it out while I was on my way home just now. Pressing it mutes the radio, holding it prompts the OnStar Voice Command menu, probably as a clone to pressing the OnStar button on the mirror. I'm gonna bet that it functions the same with the Rosen and maybe with any mainstream aftermarket HU with the proper adapter module(s).

Also, mine doesn't have the phone symbol above the talking head. My Tahoe doesn't have Bluetooth calling, so that's probably why. If your Avalanche has the phone symbol, then you probably have the Bluetooth calling-enabled VCIM.

David's Avalanche is a 2011, so he might have it.

And USB wasn't available until 2010 (I think). But my '08 (now) has it! I just wish it had the hard drive HU.

Correct, USB came in 2010 and sometime in 2012 the hard drive. I thought Bluetooth (2009-on) was a standard feature like the USB (2010-on)?
