long term fuel trims are the ones that really matter.

in a perfect world you want them around zero. but that never happens on a stock tune. high neg numbers are rich, high pos numbers are lean. like +16 is a vac leak. a -20 could be a stuck open injector. rule of thumb as long as your -/+ by 5 either way your safe.

short term trims are the correction of the long term. so they bounce around. in a perfect world stft should be close to zero at idle. and go to zero when you floor it.

this pid editor a few posts up looks pretty cool. ive yet to find that in the t app.

In the Torque Pro app you go through the menus as follows...

Open Torque Pro app >
Gear button in lower left of screen >
Settings >
Manage extra PIDs/Sensors >
3 dot menu button in top right >
Add custom PIDs OR tap one of the predefined PIDs and choose edit.

As far as my fuel trims go...

I remember one was between 1-2% and the other was between 2-3%... I can't remember if it was long term or short term though... I just remember seeing that they were different.

I will have to take another look... thanks for the info.

Ok so I finally figured out the proper PID parameters to show the ethanol content on my 2008.. it was as follows...

@LanceD

Since you appear to have the Oil Pressure and Oil Temperature gauges working would you mind posting up those PID parameters that you are using for your truck?

Also if you have the Transmission Temperature working that would be great also.


Oil temp pid is 221154 and oil pressure is 221470. Do you need all the data or just pid numbers?

If it's not to much trouble to get the data/parameters that would be great.

I have tried those PIDs without success so I'm thinking it has something to do with the parameters.

My oil pressure gauge, on TP, reads data it just isn't accurate. It was originally showing I had 110 psi.

No dice..... still no oil temp or transmission temp... my oil pressure is back to showing 110psi... lol

I don't know... at least I got the ethanol percentage working.

I noticed while idling that my AFR commanded was like 9.76 : 1 I guess that is do to the E85 and that 89 octane wouldn't be so rich... but that is just a guess on my part.

The AFR showed 1:1 and didn't move. That's not right now that I think about it.

A little reading comprehension tonight! I looked at it again, it actually says on my Tech2: Cmmd A/F Equivalence Ratio. Never seen it not displaying 1.0:1. This means the ratio is perfect, not too rich nor too lean. It does not show AFR like yours.

Well I am about ready to throw my OBD2 scanner and Torque Pro app out the window.

I filled up last night with Mobil 89 octane so that I could get some data on MPG with the 89 octane.

I drove home watching the ethanol content and it never changed from 74.9%.

I came inside and found a post by James @swathdiver that said it takes 7 miles to reset the ethanol content... I had only driven about 5 so I get up this morning and head out... 7 miles comes around and it still didn't change. I thought, well maybe it needs 7 miles without shutting the engine off, so I continued monitoring it... I now have 22 miles on this tank and it is still showing 74.9% Ethanol.

I don't know what the deal is. Maybe it's my Chinese knock off ELM327... whatever it is, I am getting frustrated with it.

Also AFR (c) still shows 9.76:1

E85 $2.22 @ 25.01gal = $55.75 ÷ 251miles = $.222
9.96 mpg
