Hey everybody , I m a new owner ofa 13" Yukon Denali hybrid and Im also new to the site and I wanna say whassup.

Now I'm new to hybrids and was interested in upgrading my head unit and system to something twice as loud and clean but an installer told me that I shouldn't being its a hybrid and it will give problems. All I wanted to do was add a avic 8200 HU and upgrade the center console sub . so my question is will it give problems or should I run as far away?

I'm pretty sure it's not a good idea because your hybrid info goes through the head unit. The only real option you have is something like the JL Audio Clean Sweep

So, have anyone changed their Hybrid headunit. I've been looking around and haven't seen not one person who've done it. But I found the nav model number (23180744). I've also learned that they are base model GM hybrids without Bose Nav radios. So, if that's the case , this hybrid screen must just be a gimmick and does nothing within the Hybrid system.

I'm thinking of just giving it a shot. I was hoping it was just a video feed coming from a separate module that could of went to a video in on an aftermarket setup. Come on guys.

After all, I don't believe GM would put a debilitating part of the car within the most stolen part of the car lol. Right?

I believe all decisions are made here and not in the Navigation deck. Might be a video feed coming out of somewhere in there.

Hey guys -

I've been trying to figure out the same thing. The intermittently blank LED on my 2008 YH head unit has been driving me (and my daughter) nuts for six months.

Bought a Pioneer AVH 1300nex, and I'm in the process of determining how to make it work. Here's my online chat w/a "GM Mechanic" at justask.com (paid $5).

UPDATE: The unit is installed and works great. The downside is you don't have the option to see the Hybrid visual on your head unit, a glossy plastic (as opposed to matte) finish, and less-than-spectacular/cheesy graphics and fonts. The upside is the addition of AppleCarPlay, Bluetooth, Spotify, and the addition of sight lines for the rear view camera.
