Hello, I haven't been into a GM dealer for a while and was very surprised by the condescending tone and lack of help they provide so I contacted GM directly just to ask a simple question, can I take the GMC to another GM dealer, like a Chevy dealer....

Thats how it started, I'm talking with someone in the philippines and told I'll get a call in one day, more than a week later and 10+ calls to them, I get a call back. jodi blames the philippines of course, she was on vaca and just got back!

Anyway...jodi, no help, a trained deflector and a real peach..No you can't take it where convenient, drive 30 min more, again and again, and by the way the first dealer was correct, bye.

I think its a game they play, just wondering if anyone else has had any similar issues where the dealer clammed up and you tried to call what you'd think was a customer service department, similar experience, better experience? Not sure if its just me....

thanks

not sure where you live but you can take a gm warranty claim to any viable gm stealership. the standard gm warranty is through gm not the specific dealership you bought the vehicle at. but yes gm tries to avoid paying out for warranty work at any chance they get.

BBB will get you connected with real GM U.S. based humans that have the power to make decisions for you if your issue is valid and reasonable.

+1. I’ve had to do this before on a previous GM vehicle when it came time to replace an entire engine and I was just barely within the 5yr./100K mile CPO power-train warranty.

However, your initial experience is the reality of GM customer care; “trained deflectors” is a good description. It truly is a shame it takes a BBB claim/case to get any real attention.

Why as a customer do we have to work harder put in our own additional time to get the level of service one should get in the first place when spending $50K+, or hell even $1 on your product?!?! As if the hard work we did to earn the money to even be fortunate enough to spend as much as we did on your product isn’t enough.../Rant.

The good news I can assure you that the way your were treated and your experience isn’t just isolated to you, it’s pretty consistent across the board. So don’t feel like it’s just you that got the short end of the stick.

Unfortunately it’s quite a shame really...

Thanks for the replies, I was pretty sure this was typical for them, just hoping I had a bad experience and there was hope.

As for the dealerships, can you, or anyone taken a ‘GMC’ to a ‘Chevy’ dealer? jodi on the phone would not give me a direct answer.

I’ve had warranty work done on a Cadillac at a Chevy dealer, Chevy done at GMC and GMC done at chevy all within the last 5 years.

Oh sure, my preferred dealer for my Pontiac was a Cadillac dealer! Better waiting rooms, better cars when you have to leave yours overnight and take a loaner home, etc.

GM does want you to specify your preferred dealership but you can certainly change it at will.

Did you have your GMC worked on at a Cadillac dealer too?

I usually take my gmc to chevy because the gmc dealer near me seemed like **********, complete different environment at the local chevy dealer that has been here for 50years+
