Just got a 13 Yukon XL and the rear glass will not open with the fob or the button on the rear lift gate. Thoughts??

Here’s a schematic

Also check where the wiring harness leaves the body and entires the lift gate at the top near the 3rd brake light. That harness is known to to get chaffed and possibly severed due to sharp edges as it is opened closed.

Everything else works like normal?

Yeah, the other button (handle) and key fob to open the whole liftgate works fine, just not the glass with the fob or the button next to the plate.

I checked fuse 44 yesterday for the lift gate and that fuse was fine. Does the lift gate glass have a separate fuse? Since neither the fob or the button next to the license plate work, i am assuming something inside the door panel on the lift gate has gone bad or needs replaced. I still got to check that harness up top too.

What I would do next is disassemble the trim from the liftgate and check power & grounds to the actuator
I took it all apart. I am assuming it is the little actuator but I’m not really sure how to get that portion off. It looks like it may have to come with the whole lock assembly ??? Also anyone have any idea what the two single blue and black wires are that are above the gate but not part of the harness?

Do you trouble code B3265? You need a good scan tool that can read BCM codes.

The BCM controls the liftgate actuator through the rear wiper motor control module.

It's probably just the actuator going bad. but could be short in wiring of some kind, a bad BCM (unlikely) or a bad rear wiper control module. If all the wires look good, are you good with a test lamp?

Get yourself a subscription for your truck at ALLDATADIY and all the how to and wiring will be right at your fingertips.

A Tech2 is as important for working on these things as is a wrench.

I have a scan tool, but im not sure it will read those B-codes. Its just your general OBD-II reader that scans engine codes.

I think its probably just that actuator itself...all the wires look good etc. Im not sure if you can just purchase the actuator by itself?
