This is totally do-able on your own, but ONLY if you have experience soldering on circuit boards. That's the only catch. If you don't know what you are doing, you can overheat the tracers on the circuit board and damage them. If you can solder, then go for it. As far as a source for the stepper motors, Digital Dash Solutions sells stepper motors too, I have purchased some from them a few times. I have also bought them on Amazon. Just make sure they are the new style motors that have a number on them that begins with "X27."
