Hey guys. I just wanted to see what anyone thinks about an apparent electrical issue I am having.

I have noticed that if I leave my Tahoe unlocked in front of my home for a few minutes and then go back to open the passenger door from the outside...the dome light sometimes will not come on. If I close the door and then reopen again the dome light comes on. From working on other GM vehicles I believe there is a latch sensor that tells the BCM if the door is opened or not. This is separate from the lock/unlock solenoid. Two connections at the door latch assembly...right? Just making sure.

The Door ajar switch is in the passengers door latch assembly. Try from the passenger seat, cycle the key on engine off, and with the radio playing, turn the key off. The radio should still be playing, then open the passenger door to see it the radio cuts off or not. If not, definitely seems like you may need to disassemble and clean the corrosion from the switch.

Today I pressed the lock button on the key fob and no horn sound after second, third or fourth press. It finally honked after the fifth press. The front door is also somewhat hard to close. Not sure if I should be doing all this work or just have body shop do it since the door was replaced last year.

The latch is the easier part to adjust, which you can probably do. If it involves the hinges that is a little harder.

I'm having some issue in my suburban. Third row map lights are dead and the second row lights work on and off.

The switch to turn the domes on also does nothing, but they work when door is ajar.

Very frustrating!

I just wanted to update everyone about the interior light problems I have been having. The problem was that the interior lights stayed on or off off when doors were opened or closed. It seems like a random issue most of the time but happens more in the winter.

Well as it turned out I finally found one of the problems. Possible the main issue. It turns out that the door latch for the rear passenger door was sticking because some goof put 30 weight oil or something in there to lube it up. I am going to take out that latch today, clean it up with electrical contact cleaner and take some pics if needed. Hopefully I don't need a new latch.
