Anyone ordering an 2018 PPV

We’re running reg 87 octane. We swap between the 22s and stock 17s. Bought an extra set of TPMS for the new wheels. I’m not going to be going to the dealer every time I swap for them to adjust the tire size. Just isn’t practical as we are every bit of an hour away.

Been looking for a programmer to change the tire size as needed. I think the tranny is struggling with the extra load the larger wheels add. It just drives different. From my research the civilian tahoes come with the 3.08 gears too. The z71 gets the 3.42s. With these being a stock size wheel and tire and the gearing being stock civy the trans being confused is the only thing that makes sense to me. It’s much more fun with the 17s

Brett, did you weigh the stock PPV 17" wheels? If so, how much heavier are your new 22's?

I don't know about the 2015+, however the 07-14 PPV wheels and tires are also 1.5" shorter than civilians. I think this increases the final drive 5%.

What mileage are you getting?? I am getting over 20 with my 17 CC Silverado 4WD on the highway..

I just ordered a 2018 Tahoe LS Custom Edition 2WD with the Max Tow Pkg.. it comes with 3.42 gears & 265/65R18" wheels/tires.. which are 31.6" X 10.4" R18 and the PPV 265/60R17 are 29.5" X 10.4" R17. About 2.1" difference in diameter..

I think it should get pretty good mileage & handle fairly well..will be my DD.. This was the closest to a PPV that I could order new since I am just an old retired fart..

I didn’t weight them. I go to my shop later today and show a side by side pictures its a significant difference. My speedo is as close to 10% off as it can get.

It’s hard to tell exactly until we get the speedo calibrated. Going off the trip and adding 10% puts it around 17 and that’s mostly highway speed. I don’t think it’s making efficient use of the power due to the computer not being able to compensate for the larger tires a little. It definitely doesn’t have the same get up and go and fun factor either. After Xmas, I’m swapping the 17s on for a bit until our road finally gets paved.

The 3.42s will make a huge difference. 3.08s rob so much power with the larger tires too.

My 17 f450 gets nearly 15 mpg with the driving I do unloaded so the two really aren’t far off. I’d like to get into the 20s though

Thanks. I am LE. Just trying to figure out if this is something to still shop around or don’t bother it’s all the same. Is it better to buy from a closer dealer and not pay shipping also. I have only seen 2 dealers who do this and they are far away.

Which one did you go with and did they stick to the original pricing?

My understanding is that this is a Chevy corporate program, but I had no luck with in state dealers. The one most local to me told me last time that I needed a letter from my agency head stating the vehicel was for official use (which was never going to happen) and did not reply to my emails on this purchase. I tried them again because about six months after I got my 2015, they had a flyer posted in our break room advertising this program, which would have required approval from the administration, so I assumed they had figured it out. I also tried the dealer holding the state bid contract on them this time and he told me that the vehicle had to be for official use "ONLY" with strong emphasis and went on about how it was illegal to sell a "pursuit" vehicle to a non-government entity. I am aware of no such law.

I used the dealer listed in the eBay ad for both my 2015 and now 2018 purchase. He required a copy of agency identification and a letter on department letterhead from a supervisor (I used one of my sergeants each time) verifying my employment. That was it. Overall the experience is a little taxing via phone and email, but so is going to the dealer. With any luck my 2018 will be here next week. Now if I can just get the 2015 sold.

Thanks for the info. I called and he filled me in on how everything works. Seems like a good deal. He also mentioned upgrades but from what I gather those are not factory but more local aftermarket ie leather. Curious after talking to him he said he has a lot on the lot, what takes so long to get yours. He made it seem they are all mostly already built.

Tell me about your 15. I may have a non LE buyer for it. I assume for resale that doesn’t matter. Also where are you located. Thanks
