In your case, I would definitely do that mod. I didn't watch the video, is that the one where the guy reverses the spring and plunger? If so, that's the way I would do it. There is another video where the guy puts threads in it and screws in a pipe plug. I think that one is unnecessary and not reversible.

Thank you , yes in my video the guy he reverses the spring and the plunger , my question is what will happened if i did that , and that will affect or destroy my trans on the long tearm , and what is open loop , i hear some guys say that will make open loop and decrease the mileage and increase the chance of destroy the catalyzer .

Tariq,
Ahlan wa sahlan... I just returned from Bahrain where I spend quite a bit of time in Manama. I know that heat you are talking about and the concerns you have.

We run the Chevy suburbans which are not modified and haven’t had any trouble with the heat we see in July and August.

Yes we would see trans temps up around 93C but we would just flush our transmissions and coolant systems in half the recommended times by Chevy.

We run 10-15 vehicles year around and I promise you, we are MUCH tougher on our vehicles than what you probably are as a daily driver.

I would maybe flush your system earlier than recommended and just keep a close eye on that temp gauge. You could also look at an aftermarket system to monitor temps too.

Just my opinion based on multiple examples....

also could go bigger trans pan and bigger trans cooler in front, with regular flex hose you can go any size that's fits even one for semi truck if need be

thank you very much for offering your assistance by taking care of mu concern ,
but am here Saudi Arabia for more than five years , i notice that most of gm trucks with 6L80e will have problem in the transmission after 150k miles , its happened for my cadillac escalade 2007 with 130k miles and i rebuild my transmission , they said this is problem with 6L80e because of heat in Saudi Arabia , with notice that my cadi trans temp not exceed 85C , and Transmission Failure Happened and i saw that in many GM trucks here ,
i will try to do find the best solution to save my transmission as much as i can .
appreciate your kindness, shokran ya man

thank you ,
i dont wont to modify any component , because this will lead to lose my warranty since my mileage is 10k only

I would also look at that tranny cooler too and see how you can do it and not void the warranty. It would seem to me that Chevy would work with you if they did the transmission cooler work themselves.

We never kept our vehicles past 75-100k miles. If you’re not seeing failure until 150k+ we aren’t even getting close

The mod will allow flow through the trans fluid cooler all of the time. Normally, it starts to open about 160* and is fully open at 180*. (I actually bought a spare to experiment with. I'm still looking into trying to modify the stock unit to simply open much sooner). This will keep it open, period. The benefit to this is that it starts to keep the fluid cool right away. Think of it this way- right now, it's like coming out to your car that has been closed up and in the sun all day, then trying to cool the interior. Instead, now, you will have the windows open all of the way on your car, get in, then try to cool it down.

The nice thing is, is that it is reversible. True, the temps will still get high, especially the longer that you drive it that day.

Yes, a bigger cooler would help, quite a bit. And, it could be done in such a way that the only visible part of the install (after it was removed, when your lease is up) is mounting holes. I understand your concern.

But, still go ahead and change your fluids 2x as often, as suggested above. That is a great idea.

I live in Dallas, TX and temperatures in the summer often hit 105 degrees. I recommend flushing more frequently and installing a larger transmission cooler. I ran the largest transmission and engine coolers I could buy on my Z. My concerns with modifying the temperature value are that it won't decrease max temperatures and might keep the ATF from warming quickly in cool weather.
