2009 Yukon SLT2 sometimes would have a high pitched sound from the rear speakers.
Would also sometimes make a gong sound when turning off the ignition.

Here's what solved my situation thanks to TahoeYukon form.
A number of threads pointed to the rear climate control. Figured I'd give it a shot since everything else failed that I've tried.

Here's my culprit.

Removal is fairly easy, thanks again to this forum.

To get the connectors out, one needs to dis-engage these locking tabs.

So this tab can be squeezed to remove connector.

Then you can see what fasteners need to be removed.

Toss out the old one

And put in one of these.

Reconnect everything

and install.

Any chance you would send me the old one if I pay for shipping? I have been meaning to tear mine apart to see if I could locate a bad solder connection on the circuit board but haven't done it yet... if not that's ok too.

Thanks

Same thing on a 2009 Tahoe rear control is casuing a buzzing noise through the rear speakers. I am tired of hitting the input rear control input button to turn off th rear speaker system (bottom row center) every time I start it. I usually forget to do it and then cannot see it from front seat safely without pulling over and stopping.

Figured that if I took this apart the 2 or 3 times that it might take to find the bad solder joint or connection etc that I would probably break something or even worse just not be able to fix it and still have to order a new one SO I ORDERED a new one off Walmart.com
I always look at parts cost in relation to a cost of a tank of fuel. (2.5 tanks here Haha) Should be here December 12th 2019 I am following thsi thread so if someone inquires later on I will be reminded to come back and let you know if that is the actual CURE.

Nice work! Looks like many of the controller pieces come out fairly simple.

Probably need to add that when I took mine out I realized what had happened. Middle child (11 yr old) sits in the middle in 2nd row seat and likes to set her school back pack in front of her. The back pack had hung and damaged the old unit by hanging the knobs, when I got it out I realized the unit halfs were loose apparently from the knobs being hung by the back pack straps and one knob was missing the chrome ring. Middle child now puts the backpack up front. Children are some expensive little critters that is for sure..................
