No kidding. My Yukon is perfect for us, our two kids and almost weekly trips up north. I'd never sacrifice looks to get a little extra space behind the 3rd row. Just looking forward to GM redesigning the rear suspension so the 3rd row is usable and hoping they can sneak a couple extra inches of storage behind the 3rd row when its in use.

You just described a current Toyota Sequoia. I know there are other drawbacks to a Sequoia (low tech, doesn't look good etc.), but it at least has those two items you mentioned above: usable 3rd row, even for adults, and an extra 4 inches of usable storage behind the 3rd row. And the outside footprint is more similar to a Tahoe than a Suburban.
If the next Tahoe/Yukon can do that well, I agree, we'll have a winner.

Much more interior space in a sequoia. But man is that thing dated. I really dislike Toyota interiors too...
I think GM will catch up to the market in the 20/21 model. Its really just about keeping costs in line once they reconfigure the rear.

To me the Tahoe with rear buckets is a comfortable 4 adult vehicle, they should have left out the 3rd row or made it an option like the 4Runner's (just imo).
Personally I don't care if someone isn't comfortable in the Tahoe as long as I am, I bought it for me not other passenger's comfort.
Even though it creates more 3rd row space, I'm not a fan of independent rear suspensions in full size truck frame based SUV's. I prefer a solid live axle like a pickup truck just my preference.
I actually prefer the last generation Toyota Sequoia for that reason, the current iteration with the independent rear is much less attractive to me.
If the 2020 Tahoe goes rear independent suspension, it would be a bit of a turnoff for me personally. I would go back to a full size pickup truck (again) probably at that point.
If/when electric drivetrains arrive I might change my preferences regarding rear suspensions...I'm weird like that lol...

I just saw this, its from a few months ago but they're saying that independent rear suspension is definitely coming so that GM can better compete with the other luxury SUV makers such as Lincoln, etc.

What is it about them moving to an independent rear that you don’t like?
So some who bought the Tahoe did it because "it fit their needs" and so they won't look like "soccermoms".
Yet make it obvious that the current gen sucks and want and or hope the next gen has better 3rd row leg room and cargo space...when the long version is available for about the same price if not cheaper if you look around or wait until the end of they year. Umm ok
IMO...the only time the short version looks better than the long version is if they have 18 inch rims on it which you don't see very often.
