The locking latch that slides up and down on the driver's side rear door rattles as we drive down the road. I think a kid did something, but it's driving me nuts. I could turn up the music, but really just want to fix it. The electric door locks still activate the latch and it works fine in that respect. Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks!

Have you removed the door panel to see exactly what part is rattling?

No, I can see the little latch that you pull up and push down rattling, so I assumed it was that latch. I could be wrong, of course, there could be something underneath the latch that is loose...Taking the door panel off would be a new venture for me...I'll take a look

Probably a bent rod or a plastic guide that broke. You're not going to find out or fix it without pulling the door panel.

I slipped some paper behind it for now. Will drive tomorrow to see if it solved the rattling. Surprisingly, all of the latches move a lot when you physically move them, but that one just shakes at every bump. Thanks!

I had the same issue. Drove me and the kids crazy!
My fix was some electricians rubber splicing tape. It’s thicker than regular black electrical tape. You can use foam tape or whatever has a little thickness to it and adhesive on one side. With the window down and door unlocked you can see a small clip on the back side of the pop up lock indicator. Pocket knife or small screwdriver to pop that clip loose and out comes the lock indicator. Place the tape on the lower portion so you can’t see it when it’s unlocked and put it back together. Annoying noise is gone!
Very easy fix

I used a small black wire tie on the door panel - there is a small tab you can tie it to. I also used super glue to increase the thickness of the locking latch on the side that would rub up against the plastic wire tie. that worked for me and i did it on all 4 doors. I have fixed many rattles over the years and every time one comes i try to get it fixed right away since it bugs me a lot.

Finally got to it. My clip release was on the opposite side, toward the interior. Small crew driver popped it off. Added several layers of gorilla tape (didn’t have any thick tape). Slipped back in and doesn’t shake! Thanks! I’ll probably do all the latches now

That was easy! Didn't even have to pull the door panel?
