2008 Suburban 5.3 to a 6.0 an easy swap?

Hello my Motor i my 08 Suburban with 330k on it just lost a lifter. Rather than to do the lifter I found a 6.0 from a 08 Silverado that has low mileage. Can i just swap the 6.0l in and roll? Has anyone done this swap? thanks in advance

At a minimum I believe you’ll need it tuned. You should probably have a larger exhaust too, I think you’d want the 3”, where the 5.3 has 2-3/4 I think. Hopefully somebody else has more detail to my limited knowledge.

I don't think you'll have to change the exhaust, the power increase is not that much, meaning the stock exhaust has plenty capacity for more horsepower to run through it. See your duplicate thread in the other section for my earlier response.

What 6.0? I thought for the Gen4 motors it had to be the 6.2. I'm pricing out doing the AFM delete on my 5.3, but if I can get a 6.x pullout for about the same price, I'd happily do that.

My confusion is that there are some of the 6.x motors with AFM and/or VVT. I want one with neither.

The L9H is the only truck 6.2 that came without AFM but does have VVT. They were even available in your year model truck and some in 2009. Someone posted theirs here a few months ago and I think it is the same color as yours. Well, there's the LS3 for cars.

The 6.0s without AFM are from the 2500s the LY6 and its Flex Fuel successor the L96. Both are iron blocks with VVT while the L9H has an aluminum block.

The LS2 for cars doesn't have AFM either.

I think it would be cool to bore and stroke the 5.3 to a 6.6 and leave the AFM valley cover so nobody would know. But my favorite choice would be an LBZ and an Allison!

Off-hand I do not recall, thought they both ran 6.2s after 2006.

The L92 had AFM components but was not activated. Next up was the L9H which did not have it at all and then the L94 had a fully functioning AFM system. All 6.2 motors.

The L76 was the only 1500 truck motor (GMT900s) used until 2009 (SUVs) and it had AFM.

Has GM dropped the AFM now? Is it really that problematic? My 5.3 has it and it's still running strong at 175k miles.
