Story time!

What one thing are you so glad you had in your truck that totally saved your a$$ and why?
Be it while 4-wheeling, Road-tripping, or daily commute. What one thing will you always keep in your truck after that experience? Doesn't need to be life saving or dramatic, maybe it was a random granola bar stopping your transition from Hangry to "I'm gonna die" hunger. Or maybe it was a previsouly forgotten stuffed animal that was found in the 12th hour of your cross-country trip and entertained your children a bit longer. I don't care... Just throw it out there!

I'll kick it off:

**This wasn't in the truck, but luckily it was in the trailer being towed, and now I keep one in all of my vehicles.

I'll always keep a fire extinguisher in the truck:

Following my dad to go camping, he was driving 3/4 ton ram towing full size travel trailer, I finally called him after 10 minutes of smelling burning rubber but not seeing smoke (I thought maybe it was one of the cars in front of him), as we walked around the truck and trailer on the shoulder, I notice a small wisp of smoke come from under the back of the truck, somehow the exhaust had caught the spare tire on fire. Crazy because he's towed trailers with this truck for years with zero problems, and it was only like 70 that day (not exactly record setting heat). Nonetheless, had we not had a fire extinguisher in the trailer, that trip would've had a very different ending... After this we drove straight to a store and each bought fire extinguishers for our vehicles.

Tire plug kit, leatherman tool and portable air compressor and first aid kit.

An uncle twice rescued strangers that ran off the road in front of him into Florida's canals. He pulled over, donned his dive gear and pulled them out.

The Leatherman gets used the most.

Nice! Anytime we go over the mountains I make sure we have a leatherman and a windproof butane lighter, haven't needed them yet, but gotta be prepared.

Oh man! I'd love to be able to throw on my scuba gear and help somebody out like that! What the crap does your uncle do that he has his dive gear in the truck just ready to go? Mine only sits in the truck long enough to get to the dive and then go home again. Totally makes me want to stash a spare reg with a pony bottle, and a mask under the seat though.

He was a dive boat captain. I always had my gear with me as well back when I was the divemaster and 1st mate. Spair air or pony bottle is a good idea, can't tell you how many times I used them to clear our fouled screw in the intracoastal. People treated it like a garbage can. Navy helo pilots use to have spair airs to help with egress should they crash into the water; not sure what they have these days.

Used to carry a zippo but it was more for burning off irish pennants before inspection than anything else.

Satellite phone. Was list in Illinois near a dirty road with a farm and no street lights. Used satellite phone in the truck to call USAA when I caught a flat and was our if gas. No " wrong turn " movie making for me
