15, 16 vs 17 tahoe

The 5.3 still only has a 6 speed. And the 6.2 just mysteriously went from an 8 speed to 10 speed.

Could be different programming of things. Who really knows, the little details are usually kept from the general public.

The rear load leveling feature does nothing for ride. There’s still a spring and a shock, it’s not an air ride. MRC makes a HUGE difference though.

There are so many variables, so many if lol

I do know that the 17 has the V8-V4 engine mode, so wonder if that's what you are feeling?

No, definitely I see the difference and is just in millage

I’ve got a 15 tahoe 15 1/2 suburban and 16 tahoe. I’ve been test driving a 17 tahoe and 17 burb as an end of lease replacement for the burb. I agree with the op on the ride difference between the 17 and the others.
15 tahoe rides nice and smooth. The 16 tahoe rides a little tougher than the 15 but the tranny and engine work seamlessly together. Suburban rides really well but is a little slower than the tahoes. All are equipped with same engine and 20” tires.
The 17’s though ride smoother and have better acceleration.
I made mention of it to the sales people I deal with. I’ve dealt with them for 28 years.

On a similar note---the 2018 has slightly better acceleration than the 2017. I test drove both and noticed a seat of the pants difference on the low end. Both had the 3.42 gears. Probably a simple transmission or engine programming tweak.

I also drove a 2017 (minus the 3.42s) with the 22-inch wheels and it drove like crap (ride and accleration). There was little to no low-end.

I think the v4 option plays a lot in it, I've heard that upgrading the ecu wakes up the truck.

All the anticipation of getting a 17, and it looks like I’m getting an 18.

Tahoe has been sitting in lot for 5 months. Can’t hold it til february and the suburban got backed into 3x. Hard enough to crack the front bumper. Can’t make this stuff up if I tried.

Gm offers nothing to a customer of 28 years, but if I was a Toyota owner they’d be all over me

That’s because all of the OEMS are trying to steal eachother’s customers. There are extra conquest and lease incentives that are not available to those of us who finance or pay cash.

I just drive my wife's '15 suburban today which I hardly ever drive. I think it's unresponsive and mushy (the go pedal). I really hate the V4-V8 thing and as it just went out of warranty was thinking of being to explore turning it off.

I prefer the way my 2004 tahoe runs to the 2015 suburban.

I also think the 6 speed transmission might be part of the problem. It stays in a high gear and bogs, and then when it finally does kick down it does it a little violently. No idea if there are differences in the '16 and '17.
