Funny - When I was shopping 07-09 Tahoes 2 years ago before buying my 08 Yukon Denali, two of the vehicles, both LTZ and loaded, at different dealers had that piece hanging from the back window. I pointed it out and in both cases I got the "Oh, don't worry about that, we'll take care of it for you." I don't think in either case they were talking about replacing a back window. It's one of the first things I checked when buying my Denali and I still find myself looking to see if it's still attached 2 years later. Must be really common that they fall off!

Yeah it’s oretty common. Mine did it, I fixed it and then a couple weeks later, I was detailing the 2005 esky esv that belongs to the family that lives in the main house where I live, and cleaning the back window, one just fell off. I didn’t even touch it and it came off. Haha.

Frostfighter FTW! They sell the tabs too. Their product is the bomb. It fixed mine after 3 failed attempts with other stuff including the Permatex. The area where the tab attaches was badly damaged and it still worked. HIGHLY recommended.

Be sure to stretch the coiled cord before you connect it so that it is not under tension when the window is closed. Chevrolet started leaving the cord slack on the later models.

I just ordered the frostfighter kit. Should I try and remove the old broken base or just install the new base/tab next to it?

What do you mean by base? There should be a flat surface that's part of the grid that you need to attach the tab to. I've never seen a tab itself break in two and leave part of the tab attached to the glass. I would ask FF. How about a picture?

It's probably a flat spot that "looks" like part of the tab from when it separated.
