Hey all. Went to change out my puddle/courtesy lamps to LEDs today. Was having trouble getting them to light up, so I went to change them back to the incandescents...and those didn't work either. Did I screw something up inside the mirror when I pulled the housing and bulb out underneath?

Were you doing it in the daylight? They usually only work in the evening/dark when you hit the button on your keyfob and the park lights come on.

I gave them a test in my dark carport before I took them out and they were working, which is what concerned me...I just got the passenger side to light up in my parking lot at work just now after some fiddling, so I'm hoping they just weren't quite seated properly. Will be trying to fix the driver's side shortly.

Oh ok gotcha. Yeah that happened with mine too. The LED took a bit of fiddling to get it sitting into the housing just right. Also if it doesn't light up, flip it around. Some LEDs are polarity sensitive while others are not.

Well, I've tried messing with it for 10 minutes in the Colorado cold. The passenger side is still working great but the driver's side is still a no-go, no matter how much flipping and adjusting I do.

Hmmmm. Have you flipped the little red wire connectors to both sides of the little metal prongs that they plug into?

This is the socket I'm working with, under the mirror. Not sure what red wire or prongs you're referring to...

Even a different bulb and some dielectric grease isn't doing the trick. Is there a part number for the puddle lamp socket? I'm thinking I may have broken it somehow trying to get this LED to work.

Oh ok. Interesting how they changed the design of the puddle lights drastically from the the 800 platform trucks to the 900 platform. My 2006 puddle lights look completely different than yours even to the way they are wired in. I don't have any part numbers for you, but you could try the online GM parts store. Like gmpartsgiant.org and click into the mirror assembly setup. It'll break down all the different parts and the part numbers there. And then you could take that to eBay or amazon and use the part number to search the parts to replace it.
