Third row conversion

has anyone ever added third row seating to a Tahoe that didnt come with it? I have an '04 and I'd like to add the third row to it. I know GM builds all their vehicles the same it's just the options that are different. For instance if you have a Tahoe with out fog lights alls you have to do is buy the factory fog lights and switch, have it programmed and now you have factory fog lights because the wiring harness is already there. I'm just wondering if it's the same for the third row seating. Maybe just cut the carpet to get to the anchor points and put in the third row. Does anyone have any experience with this? Thank you in advance.

yes the holes for brackets are under carpet, they have plugs in them that need to come out. you will need brackets with bolts and 3rd row seats. i have brackets available for sale, shoot me a pm.

Yours may or may not have the mounts installed.

If you want to, you can go to a junkyard and cut out the rear section of floor of one that has it. Then, lay it down on top of your existing floor, and mark the locations, and cut them out. Lay the entire panel on top, run multiple tack welds around it, and from underneath.

Personally, I'd have whoever that would most likely be sitting back there sit on the seat, and move it far enough back so that they would have ample legroom for time to come. Mark the locations of the brackets, and do as above.

Just make sure that the brackets are sufficiently anchored. You don't want those mounts getting ripped out in the event of any type of accident.

I just know my 01 tahoe didn't come with the third row and under the carpet were plugs in threaded holes.... got the brackets and bolts from ebay and seats from ebay too....i assume all tahoes have the holes.... but i may be wrong

You may be right.

I haven't specifically looked for a Tahoe or Yukon without the 3rd row, so I can't say I'm 100% right. You never know what you have until you actually start tearing into it!

I just recently gutted my Tahoe without third row seats and there were no holes/plugs to mount a third row seat...I also have a grey colored third row seat from my Escalade if anyone local wants it for free

What year Escalade and would you ship it to 28146, in NC? I can cover shipping expense if it's not too much

Sorry brother but I really don't have the time to ship it with my hectic schedule...if you're ever in the NYC area feel free to take it off my hands...it's an '02 third row seat in mint condition
