I hand tighten and torque everything. takes more time but saves me headaches like stripping bolts and things like that. It's my truck, my life and so on. I take my time.

unknown at this time.
the only good electric are the serious brand names like makita, dewalt, bosch and such. Even then I never used them on vehicles only when assembling storage rack for the home depots long ago.

My u-bolts are hand torqued at 90 foot pounds. And I check mine every so often. I've had my blocks shift on me once, very scary. Using a electric impact is fine, I use one everyday at work. I only use mine for either removing bolts, or installing things like lug nut caps or such. Nothing major is EVER installed with a electric impact.

Ya, I've learnt my lesson.
Like I say, I'm a little bit embarassed.

But I posted to bring this up and discuss it so that no one else makes the same mistake that I did.

Chalk it up to another life lesson learnt!
I'm happy I didn't seriously hurt my truck!

From the GM Service Manual Vol 1, page 3-87, list's the Torque specs of the U bolt nuts @ 81 lb ft, ck 1500 and Tahoe. Then to (re-torque) after 50-100 miles.
