OK, I've been trying to work out the bugs on this swap. I honestly only have one issue of no TCC lockup..
Background-
0411 pcm swap from 02 Escalade- fan control issues with stock pcm.
Trans is a 4l85 from an 08 Chevy express van
Transgo shift kit with sonnax boost pressure relief valve instead of transgos
Converter- Vigilante triple disc 3k stall
Speartech adapter harness with vss pigtail for 2nd speed sensor
New internal Trans harness and manual boost valve
Blackbear tuned with Autocal

I initially swapped the cammed 6ltr with 4l65 in and BB updated the tune via auto cal. Ran this combo for almost a year. No codes or anything. Blew the 4l65 and swapped in the 4l80 using the above parts. As soon as I loaded the 4l80 tune my Traction control light came on. I couldn't turn it off, just stay lit. After getting the fluids in the trans and doing some test drives everything seemed OK except the TC light. On my 3rd start I get check engine light and codes PCM 1810 and ABS CO279. I can clear the codes but they come back on 3rd start. Since the truck seemed to be driving normal I decided to take it thru all the gears. 1-2 shift is smooth and solid as well as 2-3, but as soon as it tries to lock the converter it shudders in and out of OD. This is the only drivability issue I have which is big.

Spoke to Justin about the problem and he thinks it's the abs computer, but I can swap the original 6.0 tune back and the traction control light will turn off. The only code I found for abs co279 is a JL4 ABS issue which my truck doesn't have the JL4 option.

Since I didn't splice any wires and only added 2 pins to the pcm I'm confident I didn't screw up the install.

Anyone have any feedback on this because the 80e is a beast of a transmission and I love how it shifts. Just need this issue resolved.

Some pics for attention lol..

i would suspect a bad tune.

talk to justin at BBP and see what he did. I bet he used a stock 6.0L/4l80e combo tune out of god knows what. when he needed to start with your base tune and do a 4l80e segment swap. or you can keep the 60e segment and run a relay harness to control the 4l80e.

I used the same harness on an 08. It was a 5.3 and 4L60e combo. I also did the 80e swap.

I tried using the segment swap option in HPT but I had starting/running issues.

I flashed another 6.0/80e tune that I knew worked and that solved my issue.

If your tune works with the ABS sensor, then use that tune, or load another tune file with the 80e option and TTC.

The tune is actually my base tune with an 80e segment swap. My segment swap is from an 8.1/80e combo. I advised him my 6.0 came from an 02 burban that had an 80e. So your using a factory tune instead of a segment swap? What tune did you end up using?

He sent me a tune update changing my wheel size back to stock and now my traction control light is off..1 win! I now only have dtc pcm1810 showing up. I emailed Justin about this as well. I have a new internal harness and manual switch valve. It cycled thru the gears once great and locked the converter. Went down the hwy no problem. I shut it off to get gas and the code pops up. No more converter lockup.

I would like this thing to lockup around 45mph if possible but it currently wants to lock at 55mph which sucks around town, not that it's locking at all now. I wanted to avoid the relay method to keep this simple as possible and behave like my 60e did in O/D. Hopefully this is possible.

I hope you get this resolved. Following.
Thanks Red there was clearly some details left out about this swap. One of the biggest is with a segment swap if you let off the throttle it kicks out of O/D. basically u find yourself speeding everywhere you go to keep the converter locked. Hptuners has a fix for throttle position at 0% so I hope efi live does too. Justin lowered the lockup mph but it won't stay locked.

I need to drop the pan again and replace the new manual valve switch again I guess. Glad i put a drain plug on this pan. My original switch looked fine but I had the code with it too but it went away. I replaced it as preventative maintenance. So much for that.

That's also what I was reading about when doing that swap, there seems to be some issues that crop up on some but not all. I guess you'll be an expert soon, or at least an expert on tearing it apart and pitting it back together! I just got an updated tune from Justin for my new trans today, as well as the trans and flexplate. The converter is behind schedule and won't be here until Thursday, then I get to put this beast back together. I can't wait to see what a real trans will feel like with my blower. Plus he said I'm fine for 3 more lbs. of boost so I'll order a smaller pulley for the Whipple.

0% throttle unlock is very annoying. Thats one thing i fix in all the tunes i do.

HPtuners now has the tables to resolve that issue.

I used the tune from an 07-09 Express van

my setup was for a gen4

I would suggest that you go back to your old tune
have that tune file changed in the transmission tables to the 80e option, and not go with a "segment swap" file
It's a drop down option now, no custom OS or segments needed any longer

I have 3 problems.

1. I'm tuned with Blackbear.
2. He uses EFI Live.
3. Mine is a gen 3

I may be looking at a new tuner altogether. HP tuners seems to be better setup for this swap. I`m having to go back to him for every little adjustment and it's still not right. I found someone with the exact same issue and it was resolved but they are using hp tuners..tuning was supposed to be the easy part.
