Would it be possible to do this in my 2015 Tahoe ltz? Can a custom wiring harness be made??

Forms a parts perspective, yes. Your issue will be the cluster. Specifically, the background lighting. 2015 GMC's have red lighting vs. the Tahoe's blue/green. The uplevel cluster with the 8 inch display is required and I don't recall it being available in the 2015 LTZ's, only the Denali. So you may be stuck with red lighting. Also, it has to be programmed to your specific vehicle and have the HUD functionality enabled. The only vendor I know that can do that is whiteautoandmedia.com. It's critical you get model year specific parts (e.g. a 2015 cluster and HUD unit for a 2015 vehicle). Chris can help you make sure.

I can make the harness or I can tell you what you need.

Can i replace the cluster only
I like the one from the denali and i found one with the same mileage for $150

You can. Mileage doesn't matter as it's now stored in the BCM. However, the cluster has to be for the same model year as your vehicle and it has to be programmed to your specific vehicle.

In looking to do this on my Tahoe would you be able to create a custom wiring harness? How involved was it? Something I'd be able to do or a local shop or you for some extra bones? Been dying to add hud and swap the cluster out!

The hardest part was studying the schematics. Now that I've done that, it's not too bad. I can do the harness or tell you what you need.

I researched earlier this morning and found all the part numbers needed...aka the hud projector, windshield, switch/buttons and dash cluster trim. I then looked into clusters and noticed the denalis do have red and that the tahoes are blue. However some 16 LTZs have the hud and updated cluster and the new 17 LTs and up have the newer cluster as I drove a loaner while mine was being serviced at the dealer.... I may be in luck. Did you buy a new trim piece to go around the buttons or just cut the existing?

Can I not use a new '17 Tahoe cluster and then order the remaining parts? By the way my truck is a 2015 Tahoe ltz Thanks!

It will be interesting to see what whiteautoandmedida.com can do, but we have to wait a month.
They're closed until mid September... :-(

According to Chris at whiteautoandmedia.com, no. He said the issue was getting the modules to talk to each other. Even a used cluster vs. new is more difficult.

I bought the correct piece as it has the provisions to hold and retain the HUD buttons. For a Tahoe, you want to get the trim with the "synthesis" notation. It will match the other painted silver trim. For us Yukon guys, the Denali aluminum is a shade different from the SLT/SLE brushed aluminum. It's not terribly different to me.

Great - do you know if the lighting in the instrument panel is behind the cluster and just a matter of different colored bulbs shining into the cluster or is it wired into the cluster? Would there be the possibility but of changing the bulbs or colored wiring out? Odd that you can't mix and match the parts. How did you go about sourcing the parts? Did you do it yourself? I would go ahead and get the stock aluminum to match what's currently in there. I believe I'll have to replace the whole piece of trim.
