Best spray paint for denali black plastic trim pieces...

I want to bring the life back to these top black plastic cover pieces on the step boards and rear bumper...

The standard polishing is not there, and I think they're sun faded permanently... tried the armor all style route, doesn't hold color.

So I want to pop them off and paint them and what better place than to give you guys a chance to show off your finished product with the can brand and style!!! Hahhahahaha

If you want to post pics so i can see, that would be sweet... or if you already know the brand and style, that will work too!!

for those plastics, i would use "SEM" if you really want to paint them. SEM can handle flex and abuse better than regular paint. But nothing is guaranteed on plastic that was once dyed.

I am definitely a meguiars guy, but I'm using a father's day gift from my oldest, it was armor all spray... it would make it look nice for maybe that day, maybe...

If that restorer works and holds, I will get that but these are pretty faded, especially on the rear.

When I'm detailing a clients vehicle and plastics are faded, I use mothers back to black. It works really well. Don't have any pics but the stuff is good. I was thinking to paint the plastics on my running boards black and then clear over them so they stay black. I have ordered spray paint from automotivetouchup.com, on recommendation from several members, and the spray paint that I bought to match my trucks paint code was spot on. The little stuff I've done so far the paint quality is great. Not sure what it might do to the plastics, but I might be willing to try lol.

The rear bumper top and even the bottom bumper trim piece along with the spare tire square cover are faded badly...

He must have always parked facing the sun, because when I try to shine it, it Will turn almost a dark gray, not black.. that's why I'm entertaining the paint.

But now that I decided to join the forum, I will take before AND after pics lol

Now, the step board covers are decent, and if they are a bugger to get off i might just stick to shining them because I havent found out how they come out yet. Not sure if it's simple pop tabs or what

Yeah I know exactly what your talking about. My rear bumpers jave those same pads. Mine fortunately are still black. But I still want to paint them black so they stay that way. I spray painted my tire lock cover on mine and it turned out pretty good. Used the matched silver birch metallic paint from automotivetouchup.com, and it's pretty good.

Heat it with a torch is one way but not for the faint at heart. Chemical Guys make an excellent restoration product

I tried the heat gun and torch method but those only seem to work on smooth surfaces so I painted with Krylon Fusion for plastics in the black satin and they still look new 2 years later. Pics are towards the front of my build thread.

And satin black gives it a new look but doesn't give it that over the top tacky clear gloss??

Anyone tried just RIT dying them? We used to dye all the plastics on our RC cars.
