2008 Transfer Case Grenaded

Hey guys about a week ago i was on a long road trip and my t-case decided to give out. 90k miles build date 03/18/2018. 4 speed auto w/ NQH t-case electronic.

Is this a common problem? Are there any upgrades for the transfer case?

Cruising at 70Mph on the interstate heard a little noise like a loose underpanel. Pulled over and it exploded at about 30 mph WHOLE THING CAUGHT ON FIRE.

Got hot, is it possible it ran out of fluid from a leaky seal?

i dont see any fluid at the break which tells me it was dry

That picture was later, there was fluid under the truck. Also when i pulled it there was fluid inside the case.

The case was on fire and i put it out with water, partially why it was so clean.

Chain was intact

Id recommend not pushing your luck. I got mine out of some guys in reno nevada.

Yeah, day two after a muffler shop jerked my drivetrain around installing my exhaust (magnaflow full cats and muffler). Today, it sounds like it's going to explode, gotta shut her down. I may just go LKQ for something quick to get me by, and rebuild mine myself...

Mine made a undertray rattle for about 30 seconds before destroying itself.
