I run 87 octane in 2 of my vehicles with the occasional on 93, once in a while. But since i have heard excellent reviews from Consumer Reports, I only go to Top Tier Fuel certified gas stations. Typically only a couple cents more, but it can be cheaper too. The fuel is required to have certain addidives to clean the pistons and other engine components. (http://www.toptiergas.com)

Chevy, GMC, and Cadillac only recommends 87 octane so anything higher than 87 is technically a waste. In contrast, Ford's EcoBoost engine which has a turbo, they require 93 octane to get the best performance numbers.

In regards to E85, this fuel has less power than gasoline so this is why gas mileage is lower because it has to use more gas. I have never tried it and dont plan on it but i guess we have the option

Not entirely true the LQ9 6.0 in the Escalade is required to use 91+ due to the high compression 10:01

The LQ4 in the Denalis is basically the same engine as the LQ9 only difference is the heads which get the extra hp but it ups the compression to 10:01 and 91+ is needed the LQ9 ended up being the Vortec Max in the Silverado's
