Probably need to probe wires running to light connection. Once I find time I'll take a look. It might be simple to replace, however, I don't want the light on 24/7 with truck running. I havent really checkes but I believe This is how they are currently wired...more like ambient lighting.

You're correct. I just plugged an led into the plug (disconnected the existing light connector) and it worked...but it stays on once the dome lights go on. Would need to switch the wire at the fuse box to match the dome light. Not sure which wire goes where. e61e122a34e18c7dc8fd72f26049da29.jpgf504fdbdefb540a9137ab3ef795fc12c.jpg

Nevermind. Found it. Cant really read them as well as I had hoped lol. If anyone can decipher, go for it! I'd love to tap the footwell lights into the dome light power instead of whatever its tapped into now...If it can be done at the source I wouldnt need to rewire each one individually I dont think...

You plan to add a second light on each side then and leave the factory ambient light? It should be fairly easy once we know which wire and tap it near door harness.

I guess it will depend on how it is wired. If I can change one wire at the harness and all 4 ambient lights will work in conjunction with the dome lights then I'll just do that. I'd much prefer having the wheel wells light up when the door is opened than be lit up when driving.

sounds like a plan. I am going to look for pics of others that have accessed the dome lights to see color of harness and/or pics of wiring and follow it. I think it will be easy to locate dome pwr, but might be touch to find the main harness wires that link to the footwell lights. I'm guessing the ceiling ambient lighting is tied into the floor ones as well, which will only complicate things unless don't mind doing away with it being on 24/7.

It looks to me to be Gray/Yellow and White/Brown wire for dome lighting. and violet/Grn and White/Yellow for the low ambient lighting throughout the truck. I know that doesn't help much given there are thousands of wires to choose from.

Sounds like they don't share a common wire or a ground. Not really sure how wiring in these things work.

Any help from others would be great!

yeah, doesn't appear so...If door trigger wire can be accessed, it shouldn't be too bad to wire to new lights in each footwell. I have always been amazed with the lack of lower lighting when exiting and entering the vehicle...as well as when traveling and needing to find something when dark...almost need a flash light to search the floor. ha. it always reminds of a compact rental vehicle. Not that the SLT is light on options, but I'm shocked the denali is the same way. amazing.
