Last night was a rainy night in Denver. I was on my way home from a business dinner at 8:45 PM, southbound on I-25. There was enough water on the highway to be problematic for a car with very poor tire tread. Apparently a car like that was on the road with me.
I was in the lane next to the inside lane, so there was one open lane between me and the concrete median. Suddenly, out of nowhere, I saw a white mid-00s model Nissan 350Z shoot from the right side of my field of vision - he must have began in the outside lane. The car headed directly perpendicular to the road, turned all the way around when it was immediately in front of me, then continued in a spin until it hit the concrete barrier, probably still moving at 45MPH or so.
I was moving at 65MPH when this happened; I bled off a little speed but I'm not sure anything but luck and providence kept the guy from hitting me; he probably moved across only 40 or 50 yards in front of me. There was minimal traffic on the highway; I think but am not sure that the other cars behind me managed to avoid hitting him once he stopped.
I was unscathed; I continued home, kissed my wife and hugged my daughter. Close call.
