My 05 Tahoe with a 151k Mile 5.3 is now leaking oil..I looked under it and oil pan is very wet with oil.Engine was dry as a bone, didnt use a drop of oil, all.the sudden it started leaking.I crawled underneath and I can't see where it's leaking at all!Sensor on side of pan is dry, valve covers are dry at the back of engine, plug is tight, filters tight, where in the he'll could it be coming from?Only thing I can think is the rear Main?I usually don't ask about oil leaks as I usually find them..Juat wondering if this may be a common issue with a known remedy. THANKS in advance.

Oil pan gasket, oil filter gasket, rear main and oil pressure sensor are other possibilities. Your best bet at finding the source is to clean it all off and go for a drive. Check it frequently so you can find the fresh oil as soon as it starts leaking from wherever.

Oil pressure sensor.... hmmm. I've been searching for an oil leak for quite a while. I replaced the oil pan gasket and took at peek at the flywheel and it was dry as a bone so I'm confident that the rear main isn't leaking (I replaced it 5 years ago when I rebuilt the transmission). I just replaced the valve cover gaskets - I did have a bad oil filter, the gasket was all jacked up, first time in 15 years I've seen that. Maybe I'll try the oil pressure sensor.

It's fairly common. It's a pain to get to (and even bigger pain to replace), but reach around the back of the block from the top and feel for wet oil.
