I have a 2000 Tahoe z71 4x4 with a 383 stroker swap.
I was wanting to put a new performance tranny in it soon. Nothing crazy, just an upgrade from stock without breaking the bank. Should I put in performance rear and front diff's too when I do the tranny.
In the future I would like to turbo my truck but after I upgrade and tune up the regular stuff
Also I was curious about what performance spark plugs, rotor and distributer I should put in because I'm planning on doing that soon, pretty much just looking to do a decent tune up on my engine.
And in the future I wanted to do all new performance suspension. Not lift it though

Suggestions and pointers and guidance please
This will be my first build ever

I would venture to guess that any 4L60E wouldn't have a long life behind a 383 stroker with a turbo in your rig that weighs in excess of 5K lbs. I read a lot fail early with the increased torque with a NA 383. Some seem to do ok but others fail quick. I guess it depends on the HP and torque output of your 383 (many different ways to build one), the quality of the transmission build and how you drive it. I currently have a mild built 383 in my 98 2door. The transmission is a level 2 from PATC which has about 30K miles but only 2K with the 383. We'll see how it goes. I bought the tranny several years ago before I did the 383. It was close to $2400 uninstalled. Now I wish I would have bought a nicely built 4L80E and did the conversion myself. Good luck with your build.

It is not direct plug and play. If you google 4l60E to 4L80E conversion you will find lots of good info and write ups. The 4L80E is longer so the tranny cross member has to be moved and both drive shafts have to be shortened/lengthened. Several pins in the transmission harness plug have to be moved. The 4l80E has an additional speed sensor which has to be wired to the computer under the hood and your computer will have to be reflashed. Also the output shaft on the 80 is bigger than the 60, so the input on the transfer case has to be changed. There are probably a few more mods that I cant recall right now but thats most of them.
